I agree with MadLax that they should be given the right to play for something, which they have. Especially in the sense of what happened in the meeting, where they were being forced out the door but were voted to stay in, then were forced down to B where they don't want to be (but would rather be there than out of the league!). You can't than say, ok you are in B but your games are irrelavent now. They were voted to stay in the league by a majority of the teams, which says that a majority of the teams are willing to say that whatever they do against Nebraska shall be their own destiny. If they don't want to be effected by what happens than they should just make sure they handle business on the field and it won't be an issue anymore. (I know that last comment kind of contradicts itself but you get the point).

This talk of Nebraska being forced "down" to B is ridiculous. What you reap, is what you so. If you are an "A" school, you should play in the A Division. Why must the B Division be forced to deal with A teams that cannot get their acts together? Nebraska last spring was a joke.
I sure hope that Nebraska shows up for their games this spring on time and say, not 1.5 hours late and smelling of alcohol. That they don't request to go running quarters in a league game. Or play an OCC game where they try to recruit players from another league team to go renegade because Nebraska cannot field 10 guys.
The current regime in Lincoln has a lot of fence mending to do. I am willing to give them a chance because I want to see the game grow but if it is going to be done with the bunch from last year all I can do is wish them the best of luck.

I believe that the b division wasnt "forced" to deal with us...if im not mistaken, they voted to accept us in. And im pretty sure it wasnt a close vote.

Interesting topic
Hey everyone, just thought I might get my two senses in on this topic. First off, as Madlax said this year is much different than last year, we have 25 plus members on the team ( of which when we played ISU we had over 20 of them travel with us) so yeah maybe last year ( and many years before that we where a joke) but who says we can't step up to the plate. Coming from a state where Lacrosse is "the biggest hot bed in the nation" Colorado I know what it is like to be on a winning team. I see it in Nebraska! I know that the last few seasons have given us a very bad rep and as it should, but I'll put my word on it that things will change. Less than 10 members of last year’s team are back, and two of the captains are new individuals, Madlax and myself. So I won't get arrogant and say we will turn this around in one year and go undefeated (even though we can't make playoffs) but rather win or lose we will do it with class. That is a promise! Anyone out there looking for games or scrimmages fill free to get in contact with madlax or myself. Sorry for the rant but I thought maybe for once I would step up and put my two sense in.

Some talking points about the new MCLA
- The MCLA replaces the USL MDIA. The MCLA is a new organization, separate from US Lacrosse. The MCLA was formed in order to better serve college club lacrosse. US Lacrosse was an incredibly valuable partner for the past eight years, but both the MCLA Board of Directors and US Lacrosse felt that the MCLA would be better served on its own. The MCLA will still have representation on US Lacrosse boards, committees and councils, but it will oversee its own budget and run its own tournament.
- The increase in dues (from $500 to $1000) is intended to cover the increased cost of running a better organization. It is also necessary to provide a parachute in the event the tournament and other expenses go over budget. The budget and dues will be re-examined after the MCLA has gone through a full year’s budget process.
o The split from US Lacrosse does allow more flexibility in securing sponsorship partners. The MCLA Board of Directors is already pursuing new opportunities.
o The deals with Queen City Lacrosse and LaxWorld still remain in place. Teams are encouraged to use both retailers.
o The budget will be made available to all member teams at the end of the first fiscal year (September 1, 2007).
- New MCLA bylaws will be completed this fall, and will be ratified by the membership before the winter Board of Directors meeting.
- The MCLA Board of Directors has a very similar makeup to the old USL MDIA Board of Directors. There is a slightly larger Executive Board, and conference representatives (one from each conference) continue to serve on the Board of Directors. John Paul has two years remaining in his term as President of the MCLA.
- The MCLA winter meeting will be either December 7-8 at the IMLCA Clinic in Baltimore or January 11-12 at the US Lacrosse Convention in Philadelphia. A final determination will be made by the end of September. ALL MCLA coaches are encouraged to attend.
- The MCLA tournament will no longer be run by US Lacrosse. The dates and format remain the same, however there will be no concurrent women’s tournament. The current plan is to be back in Dallas, but final determination will be made in October after US Lacrosse has finalized the location of the women’s tournament. Dan Morris will serve as the MCLA tournament director for 2007.
- The MCLA will provide D&O insurance that covers its national Board of Directors and extends down to cover Conference Boards. It will also have insurance that covers the national tournament. The MCLA will not provide team or individual member insurance. Teams are encouraged to make sure they are covered through their academic institution, and if not, or if they want additional coverage, to secure their own coverage (US Lacrosse memberships for all players and coaches is still a very good method of coverage).
- A new logo and website design will be released in October, when the MCLA is officially incorporated.
