just wondering who you guys think will win it all this year in the CCLA

If Oakland can learn to pass the ball more on offence and slow it down on occasion as well as still play solid D, then I think their chances are as good as any. I dont think that Miami Ohio will be much of a factor this year. But still, as always, I think it is U Mich's to lose.

What team has the best chance of ruining someones (Michigan's) dream in the CCLA tournament? Perhaps not capable of winning the whole tournament, but talented enough for one upset.

Here are my thoughts on this one, I really think that any team can beat anyone, in any game. It really depends on who shows up and who does not. When we played U of M in the regular season, we got worked! When we met them in the playoffs, we beat them. If some team wants it more, it is very possible to beat anyone. The CCLA is wide open this year. So many teams can have the chance, Miami, U of M, State, Pitt, Perdue, Indiana, and Oakland. Last thing to add, CMU is up and coming they are going to shock some teams, mark my words! Good luck to all teams!

I will be glad to second his comment on CMU and I rightfully should. We beat them 28-7 last year, and just this last weekend they came from behind to beat us in the 4th quarter 11-10. Their offense is light years better than last years team, and their zone D isn't too shabby either.

I mean seriously, you should know how to spell our school name by now. We have been in the CCLA's for a while now.

For the rest of you out there, I know it is tough for you guys to understand, but I just wanted to clarify that we do not have any relation to Perdue chicken.

Miami should have much more depth this year. They only lost 1 or 2 players from last year's team that lost in OT to Oakland in the CCLA Championship game and they have added a lot of players. The team that lost to Oakland also was shorthanded in that a couple of their top players (Essig and DiGanci) did not play in the Championship game. I think they only had 15 or 16 players for that game. They even had to use one of their goalies as a middie in that game.

It is hard to say how this translates to 2005 as all of the CCLA teams appear to have a lot more talent. Beeken and Essig are one of the top Attack units in the CCLA. If they can get a third contributor they will be very tough to stop offensively.

The midfield was the weakest part of Miami last year just because they did not have the depth. DiGanci has to be about the top middie in the league. He is big, fast and athletic. If they can get 3 solid lines put together around him they will be vastly improved compared to last year.

The defense should be solid. They have one of the best goalies in the CCLA in Szlag. Balcerzak can be great if he plays under control. Turner has got great instincts and a great stick at LSM. I hear good things about newcomer Halaiko who transferred in from Washington College. Heyburn is a good leader. They have the potential to be very good on defense.

Bottom line is that Miami should be better than last year based on talent alone. However, every team in the league looks to be more talented. The top of the CCLA will be determined by which team can translate their talent into the best teamwork. That is what wins lacrosse games. It is no different for Miami.

Miami played well against UMDuluth, but had a bad letdown against Lindenwood, or is Lindenwood that underrated?
Pittsburgh has certainly put together a string of impressive wins - are they our champ-in-waiting?
Something tells me there is lots of lacrosse left!

Lindenwood was a very solid program. I would say that they are comparable to an Oakland squad that we played last year in the CCLA finals.

Overall, their offense is pretty good and they dont have any weak players from what I noticed. I see them in the polls for the rest of the season and winning out the weak GRLC.

Must be due to their Coach, Spartan grad from 1995 (or was it 96) and fomer coach at MSU Luke Griemsman. I can say from experience that he knows the game, and is going to only get better as a coach. He's also a joy to coach with, and play for.

Thank you, PULAX9...I thought I was the only one to notice. I am not going to be pointing that stuff out anymore.

On the topic, I think that one can only argue in Michigan and Oakland's behalf. Enough said...
