Anyone want to venture a guess as to a super-preseason poll?

Possibly you mean Virginia Tech? Is Tech known as Virginia's state college?

For the record:

Augustana graduated three seniors on a roster of 25. Those were replaced with seven freshman.

watch out for westminster in the b division. Mase Goodhand's rockin' and rollin' with a bunch of freshmen talent and one or two anchoring vets. it should all be interesting. this is waaaaaaaaaaaay to early to be talkin polls. most teams aren't even sure exactly what they're gonna look like in the spring (new recruits, loosin' kids, etc.) i'm anxious too. be patient.

How high should USD be ranked?

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Mon Nov 13, 2006 2:46 pm

One of the toughest decisions for the pollsters will be where to rank San Diego in their pre-season Top 25. The Toreros won their second-straight B crown in 2006, avenging their only defeat of the year (an early 6-8 loss to St. John's) by whipping the Johnnies 10-3 for the title. During the '06 campaign USD beat both A teams they played, USC 15-3 and, more impressively, cross-town rival UCSD 10-9. UC San Diego finished at #6 in the final 2006 Laxpower computer rankings with an 82.37 power rating. USD had a PR of 79.90, which would slot the Toreros at #11, behind #10 Cal Poly (80.53) and just ahead of #11 Oakland (79.77).

I accept that Laxpower is flawed, and understand that the P.R.s do not cross-over between the different divisions accurately. I am NOT singing the praises of power rankings as Gospel. But Laxpower does continue to be interesting fodder for all of us who love stats and numbers, as I do. It is "necessary reading" for the poll voters, one of whom I have been honored to serve as. If selected to continue in this role for '07 I will struggle with where to place USD in my pre-season poll -- but the Toreros will be ranked somewhere in my voting, for sure.

Just a thought from someone who voted last year. I would not personally rank any team that moved up to A. I would make them win their way onto the list. If they are as good as everyone thinks they are then they will have absolutely no problem winning themselves a spot on the field.
