it was actually a nice day today... Blue skies. Yesterday was a different situation, way too much rain. The lax class i teach at the school wasnt cancelled so those guys enjoyed a swim. Hows Eugene

let me tell you all a little bit about the up-downs that WOU did on wednesday while it was pouring outside.... it was like being in a really cold, wet hell. Not to mention new players with wet mesh. Gotta love outdoor fall ball in Oregon and Washington baby!

^^^ Its the memories of up downs in the mud that make me so glad that Im playing WCLL ball. Of course tuesday practice in LA meant a turf field radiating 95 degree heat, but its a good trade off.

Its funny you say that we play in the mud here in the NW. Last time we traveled to the WCLL I remember playing on the worst field EVER; standing water and mud over my ankles in Sonoma. At least most of us have turf fields and those teams that don't have turf fields will actually play their games if it rains. Another time we went to California to play, we had an entire tournament canceled because of a little sprinkle.

Yeah Norcal and global warming dont mix well. I forgot about the weather troubles they have up there since I play in the B division and all the B teams are in Socal. We had 1 rain game in LA last year... maybe 2.
Anyway, I was trying to reminisce with the WOU guys because I played HS ball in Salem and most teams in the Salem area arent fortunate enough to play on turf all the time. I've done so many up downs, pushups and bear crawls in the mud. Willamette got lucky with the new field they got.

That's if our crooked AD lets us use that nice new field We only got it ONCE for 6 home games last year, a local youth soccer club got it for the rest, gue$$ we know where hi$ allegiance$ are.

Also, query: I searched through the forums but couldn't find an answer, does anyone know of a water soluble paint for field turf? The powers that be say that we can't use the field unless we find some easily removable lining system, and no duct tape is not an answer, that stuff melds to the plastic grass. If anyone has any ideas or knows any companies that make good lining stuff that would be awesome. Thank you

Liquid Marking Chalk (made by Aervoe) is the stuff you want. It's the product recommended by the maker of FieldTurf, and we have 5 years experience now using it on our four FieldTurf fields at UW. LMC was used at Qwest Field (Seahawk Stadium) when lax was played there in 2004 and 2005.

By the way, paying for field use is not un-heard of. We are only allotted two four-hour practices per week at UW, and have to pay for a third and fourth outdoor practice. We also have to pay for Dempsey Indoor for our HIT event at about $70/per hour. I'd say it's worth it for the privelege of of playing in there, but the bill is a pretty darn high one for college guys to have to foot.

Yup, Dan got us started on that stuff & it works well. They'll send you a can to test, give it to you AD & they can test it on a corner... This is what they use at Qwest field. We've found that we don't bother washing it off, the rain does it just fine if they'll let you.

Snowed heavily all day here in Seattle, with power outages in lots of neighborhoods including mine.

Sure doesnt look like the warm El Nino winter they were predicting. We were ready to start loading the animals by twos into a big boat after a solid month of heavy rains, and now it's sea level snow for the next few days.

There is easily over a foot in my yard right now. And my car was parked on the street yesterday, so when I went to go to work this morning, I had to brush off all the snow. The only thing was that my brush was inside the car, and the doors had all frozen shut overnight. Once I was finally able to get the door open, I started brushing over a foot of snow off my car, and the brush broke. Good times.
