i think that it is interesting that after going to the second round of the national tournament that unc gets voted 5 in the conference. If people think that we were a one year wonder then i think that they will be very surprised.

I don't think there was anything meant by it if you're taking offense....

also, where did this come from? there wasnt any polling at the fall conference...was it a coach thing recently?

I agree with unclaxman 23 i belive UNC should have been put #2 with your trip to nationals last year. Fort should have been #3 with a fall championship and a well played trick or treat, they will be soild this year. I really dont like westminster being in the top 5 they are unproven and brand new. I do although think they will be top 5 by seasons end if not top 3. Western at #6 is right where they belong sometime they show up and look like the best team in the league and sometime they look like garbage, very inconsistent. other tahn taht i think everything looks the way it should. I cant wait for csu-p and new mexico to play because someone is gonna get a W. Also what up with Wyo getting a first place vote.

Well if thats how wyoming wants to vote then fine.
But Im not saying where we should be on the poll but i do strongly feel we should be higher. Because of teams we beat last year and so far this year.
I think this year in the RMLC is going to have the toughest competition out of most if not all other leagues.

I believe this was sent out to the team presidents. I know ours was done by the team officials. We took time and looked at last year and fall ball and took into account nationals and everything.

I'm good friends with a few guys on UNC, so I'm sure this won't offend. And I would like to state that I had no vote in the poll results.

But seriously, UNC, you lost to Fort Lewis by one goal last year. And yes, UNC got the deserved bid to nationals since they played extremely consistent all year long and took on some top notch competition ooc. Fort Lewis, however, was less consistent but a very good team.

Now, fast foward to the present. UNC, you've lost one of the fiercest competitors on defense in the whole divison B (Alan Smith 3rd Team All-America) and lost a solid assister and great pacesetter for attack (Andrew Vance). And Fort Lewis has gained one of the most hot shot, better than you and your whole family combined...etc attackmen (Tyler Poudiddy #1.0) while loosing only two defenders all while Stolley continues to shine.

Then again, UNC just beat Fort Lewis in the Trick or Treat tourney. But at the same time Fort Lewis beat Mines hands down in Western's Classic, while UNC squeeked a 3 goal win over Mines in the Trick or Treat. That's kinda inconsistent, and I don't think Mines stepped up play at all for the Trick or Treat tourney, so throw that theory away. Maybe Fort showed some of their inconsistencies of the past with a less than perfect showing at the Trick or Treat.

So who knows, maybe UNC should be ranked over Fort Lewis, you can make arguments for both quite equally.

There's always the remaining question as to why Montana State was ranked above UNC, good question, who knows until the spring is played because those guys up in Montana have proven themselves in the past and we don't have much fall ball info for them. We can all predict about Westminster, those golden boys have a few priveleges and it seems like plenty of talent to go with it. We all know about UVSC, that family, slipped a little last year, but if Mines could have a season like that and consider it a slip, I would be a happy man. NAU, we'll just have to wait and find out. They played on the same level as the other middle dwellers (Mines and Western) this fall, but with more time they might be able to pull it off. And the rest of the pack (CSU-P, Wyo, Regis, UNM) it should be a fun year.

Can't wait to play those games this spring!

First off, I played for UVSC a couple of years ago, but i still keep pretty up to date with the league, and I agree that UNC could be ranked higher than they are, but you were ranked #6 in a pre-season poll. Do you really feel that disrespected by a pre-season poll? If you do, then you are being way to sensitive...After this falls scores (which is what most voters base their thoughts on) I'd say #6 looks about right for you guys.

As for people implying that Wyoming voted themselves #1, again who cares. Everyone else thought they belonged at around #9, which is about where they ended up, and I would be interested to see where teams like UNC voted themselves... probably higher than #6, even though the other teams collectively thought that is where you belonged. Everyone thinks they are better then they usually are in the pre-season...and it’s the way it should be, so even if it was Wyoming who gave themselves the #1 vote, I’m O.K. with that.
Oh...thats so hot!

well we obviously did not vote ourselves number one, although we finished the highest ranked team in our conference last year. We gave UVSC the respect they deserve, by ranking them number one, because until we beat them we cannot vote ourselves number one. Even though we may have lost a few players, we gained many more. we have a lot of talent this year and with the trick or treat tournament being the first time we had played a game. That weekend was the first time we even had everyone on the field at the same time. No scrimmages in practice or full field anything. So im my opinion it makes a large statement when we come in and beat a team who had played and "dominated" the western tourament, while playing six lines on middies including players who have never picked up a stick. So sure we may seem inconsistant in others eyes because we only beat mines by three goals, but that was our first game of the year and we greatly improved through out the day. For me that was the first time i had the chance to see the other two attackmen play. And for us to come in cold like that and "learn" to work together during that first game and to end up beating a team who played well in the gunnison tournament. I think this has gone without recognition.

BTW, I think the whole RMLC can be proud of the consistent job you guys did all of last season (conference, ooc in Cali, conference playoffs, nationals). Good job representing our conference on a national level.

Now, we'll see you in the spring and all be coming for your heads :)
