No way this team beats OSU, Michigan, most of the SEC teams, and others. They would not be competitive against any of those teams.

Maybe, maybe not. But me thinks that is more bias in favor of the Big 10 and the SEC. I say let U of L have their shot if they are undefeated. At least they scheduled somewhat agressively outside the Big East beating other BCS teams like Miami, Kansas State, Kentucky.

IMHO, Rutgers and Boise's schedules aren't as good. So I might feel different if they are undefeated at the end of the year.

We'll see what Rutgers has to say this Thursday. The BCS formula, ironically, is so unpredictable. I'm a believer that a one-loss SEC team in Auburn or Florida should go over Louisville. Unfortunately, Auburn has a soft end to the season and the teams that Florida beat in 'big' games are looking pretty bad in the second half of the season. I pose this question... who do you think would win in a Louisville vs. Auburn/Florida game? Of course, all of these questions will be pointless if OSU beats Michigan by 3 or less at home. Michigan won't drop in that situation, but if Ohio State loses at home, they can kiss the championship goodbye.

Auburn against Louisville would result (in my opinion) in an Auburn win. Auburn has perhaps the fastest defense in college football. They can cover the pass especially well (108 pass yards against Florida for example). They have more of a problem with big, bruising RBs. But still, Louisville is a passing-offense team. I think they'd light up Florida though...

As much as I love Southern football... Auburn had their shot and they lost to Arkansas at home.

If we are going to talk about hypothetical games than I think there should be some pro bias. I think it should the winner of the Michigan/OSU game vs. Ditka.

I think it is funny that we are arguing over who will be second. Most people agree the Michigan/OSU winner will be the National Champion so who cares who about the first loser. I actually like seeing watching these games since they bring the end to a great college football season. Who knows maybe it will be Rutgers in the National Championship game and they will win it.

After all of the bowl games who will be the #3 team?

I think Lousiville/Florida would be a great game to watch. I don't think it would captivate the country, but it would be nice to see two unique offenses go head to head.

Iowa vs. any team that does not run the spread offense and likes to run up the middle when they have no running game. :roll:

...yeah, just ask the facilitators at Oklahoma State.

Herbstreit was all over Louisville last night talking about if they are to remain undefeated, then they should be in the BCS championship game. I'm not ready to agree with that statement just based on their defense alone. That WV game really didn't sell me on either team just based on how many points and yards were given up on each team. I doubt the Michigan/OSU game will be like that. Bottom line, truth will be told when 'Ville plays a team with a great defense.

I agree. The Zookers almost tied it up at the end of the 4th quarter against OSU. It was an ugly Saturday all-around.

PS - JoePa says he'll be on the sideline this weekend nursing a fractured leg and two torn knee ligaments.

Good article from ESPN's Mark Schlabach. I don't think some of you are giving U of L enough credit...

So Louisville's 44-34 victory over then-No. 3 West Virginia was too high-scoring for the Big East detractors. Too many points [78]. Too many yards (1,008). Not enough defense.

How easily we forget the final score of last season's Rose Bowl, in which No. 2 Texas upset No. 1 USC 41-38 to win the national championship. The Longhorns and Trojans combined for more points (79) and yards (1,130) than the Mountaineers and Cardinals did last week.

But because Texas and USC aren't from the much-maligned Big East, the Rose Bowl was considered an instant classic.

And never mind that No. 2 Michigan just allowed 26 points to a Ball State team that scored seven against Central Michigan. Or that Texas allowed 518 yards and trailed 21-0 in its 35-31 win over unranked Texas Tech two weeks ago.

Instead of giving the Cardinals credit for crushing the third-ranked team in the country -- a win that is arguably as impressive as Ohio State at Texas or Michigan at Notre Dame -- much of the public focused on what Louisville didn't do: shut down one of the country's most explosive offenses. What did you expect? A shutout?

it was pat white not brandon jacobs who defenders were missing arm tackles on all game.

Why don't we call the Big East the WAC East? I don't think most people could name 5 teams in either conference, yet both has undefeated teams. I think the fact of the matter is, since the Big East has yet to create a "tradition" like teams from the Pac-10, Big 10, Big 12, or SEC, nobody will pay them their respect...including me. IF the Big East continues to create undefeated teams year in, year out and expand their OOC schedule to compete against some of the big dogs, I think, in 10 years, people will start to come around. Look at ND...There's no way they get respect by playing all the independent teams...they have to branch out and play some of the tougher teams in order to earn some respect. Plus, their "tradition" has been around for years-unlike Louisville or WV.
