Unbelievable job by Mike O'Leary! One of the coolest lacrosse pieces I have ever seen.

Very nice indeed......I would like to mention, anytime any video work is done ....Irish music should be incorporated - it adds to the effect.....Great work!!!

Mike is very talented video producer. While he was an undergrad he did a coveted internship one summer at NFL Films (the narration script reflects their over-the-top style), and for his first year after college he worked for Nascar Images producing pieces for their weekly television show. During that year he was even nominated for an Emmy for the work he did on a documentary piece, pretty impressive one year out of college. While he was an undergrad here he did longer team documentaries (about 45 minutes) each year that focused on the team experience as a whole, not just highlights. Needless to say, they were outstanding. For one of them he even had the guy who is the voice of NFL films narrate a version ("on the frozen tundra..."). Classic.

Does anyone know the name of the song used in the beginning and throughout the first half of the video?

No idea. Probably pretty high end stuff. Some of the other work he's done for the athletic department here, and of course his professional stuff for the NFL and NASCAR, is pretty incredible.

Final Cut Pro is used by many at the professional level.

Final cut pro is a prosumer software. Can be used at the highest level and usually what is used by anyone who can't afford the cost of the proffesional grade software. That being AVID. Although AVID does offer a lower grade version that a prosumer could purchase for a few thousand most of their edit suites can cost upwards of 100K. Not that anyone in the lax world cares.

Did O'leary do the videography? Did he use your team camera? If so he must have stuck around after he played his 4 years.

He shot it himself. He came back to Ann Arbor for last year's invitational to do it. He uses his own camera. The team camera is busy during games shooting the game itself. When he was a player and he was doing longer documentaries on the team he would shoot a lot of the off-field stuff, and he had others shoot game footage while he was playing. The wider angle stuff we use for our own team film purposes didn't really work creatively for what he was doing.
