Quite untrue. There are a lot of people who would disagree with that. The BCS is about as accurate as the Laxpower rankings.

Maybe with apologies to Oregon, the BCS championship -going into the championship game (without hindsight, mind you)- has always been correct.

Again, not true. USC was left out of the title game 3 years ago against LSU, when they clearly deserved to be there over Oklahoma.

Playoff

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:43 pm

The BCS can't help but get it right when there are two top teams clearly better than the rest, like Texas and USC last season. That's hardly a ringing endorsement of the current system. It will be more impressive if the BCS this year gets the title game right. There will be a bunch of great one-loss teams competing with multiple mid-majors undefeated teams -- like the WVU-Louisville winner, Rutgers or Boise St -- for a spot in the title game against undefeated Ohio St. Without a playoff system the schools from outside the power conferences have almost no shot at a national title game unless, perhaps, they stand undefeated alone.

 Of course if Michigan beats the Buckeyes it will be a brouhaha par excellence, and the BCS will be about as reliable as "pick em out of a hat". Six or more really good football teams could make title game claims and all but one will get shafted. In my humble opinion deciding things on the field (in a playoff) is always preferable, and by a land-slide over artificial selection.

Ok, I've held my tounge long enough.....

The BCS....who cares, its kinda like wildcard baseball...your kinda stuck with it for right now.....

As far as the soon to be 2007 National Champions - The Ohio State University - they will play WVU in the national title game.....

Michigan will lose at the shoe, nuff said, (sorry Michigan fans, but your team is very overatted this year)

WVU will be in second after the Michigan loss, not before, it's just not mathematically possible....can they beat OSU? - they might be the only team in the countrywith the scheme and the ability to do so....remember, a spread offense forces you out of your usual 4-3 scheme, and if you stay in it...you will get killed against WVU.....just aske Georgia, and every other opponent now that WVU is roughly 20-0 (i think, might not be accurate, but close) in there last 20 games.

I envision a national championship much like the Fiesta Bowl of 89 - Yea thats right WVU lost to a much stronger Notre Dame squad (anyone remember Major Harris? - I was way to young to drink at this game, but my Mom wasn't...All I remeber was Don Neilen, you moron!!!) This year OSU 35 WVU 24 - I cant wait until Jan 4th......

Why not stay in your base formation and let Pat White try to beat you with his arm? He has only thrown for over 200 yards once in his career and it was against East Carolina, which doesn't really strike fear in my eyes (only 3 times over 150). He has also thrown 14 TDs to 10 INTs in his career.

OSU has the linebackers to do this.

Because if you stay in your base 4-3 against the spread you are forcing them to thorw...and your basically saying, we can cover steve slaton and his 4.2 speed with a linebacker that runs a 4.6/4.7....thats why...hey Georgia tried it last year, it worked out really well for them....

OSU's linebackers are very good, but they are also very young, when the core of your defense is on the line, and in the secondary, Id rather put the pressure on them as opposed to he young linebackers who have had issues against man coverage all year...

Besides OSU learned their lesson last year...remember Vince Young and the Texas spread offense. - and those backers last year were much better than this years group...yeah, that work out real well for us...I had to go buy a new tv after that game....

game looked like a dec 17th bowl game tonight. 44-34 with no tackling and a bunch of turnovers and offensive momentum swings.

one where two teams who you are watching and thinking ''i wonder how good they are'' and you are thinking the same thing after the game.

Slaton's 2 fumbles were HUGE. So apparently WVU can't stop the pass and Louisville can't stop the run. If Louisville plays Auburn with AU's defensive speed and running game, or WVU plays Florida or Texas with those passing offensives...the Big East will be 0-2 this BCS season.

Over 1000 total yards offense by both teams? De...what?

No Big East team will be in the BCS championship game.

If Louisville runs the table, I think they should get a slot in the BCS title game over a 1-loss team from another BCS conference.

What about Boise State or Rutgers? Both undefeated still.

Personally, I feel any of those teams would get smashed by Ohio State and Michigan...PLUS, they wouldn't draw as much money as an SEC, Big 12, or Big 10 school in the big game. I'm sure they'd tinker with the computers in order to keep a Louisville, Rutgers, or BS team out just for the money.
