PNCLL Week #4 (2/23-3/1) - Predict, Scores, Discuss

In Eugene, a player from SFU declared quite vocally that the Oregon Field turf was "their" (SFU's) Field turf. Alot of Oregon players have taken offense to this statement, for obvious reasons. UO learned a hard lesson last year at Chico state about providing locker-room board material. I hope that SFU is ready to back that statement up or it going to be a long day for the canadians.

Nicely stated there Big D, but you also have to remember that even though we are doing well as a league against them, only we will end up playing one of their top three teams by the time it is all said and done (Noma). No one has games against either of the top two/three teams in their league. (SB and Zona)

You are correct. Just as in any league, there is a big fall off after the top teams. In the past the WCLL has gone 5-6 deep. This year it is 3-4 (UCSB, SSU, AZ & UCSD) and aside from Oregon no one from the PNCLL plays any of those top WCLL teams.
Another factor is that this 4-1 record (with the exception of Gonzaga's win over hapless Stanford) has been compiled by the top 3 PNCLL teams (Oregon, Washington and SFU). All future PNCLL v. WCLL games also involve these same 3 top PNCLL teams.
I think you also need to look at the WCLL teams that lost to PNCLL teams.
Stanford 0-3 all blow outs
Cal 3-4 with no offense whatsoever; wins are vs 2 former B teams and a first year team.
Chico 1-3 (lost to 2 best PNCLL teams; blew out Washington) This may be the 5th-8th best WCLL team.
Cal Poly, LMU, Chapman (also in that 5th -8th group) are all down this year as well. It is possible to schedule in the WCLL where you will be able to win all of your games.
But with that being said, I congratulate the successful PNCLL teams for their accomplishment. They are moving in the right direction and should be proud of their sucess.

Last year Santa Clara went up to Washington and Oregon. We blew out Washington, beat Pacific Lutheran, and got blown out by Oregon.

SFU takes out Oregon 7-5. Oregon had 57 shots , 32 on cage. You do the math. Great game #1(Golie) I think #13 had 5 of 7 goals for the Clan.

I just got back from the PLU vs UPS game. Final Score 5-8. That game was interesting and very physical with some big hits in the game.

PLU came out early with 2 goals in the first and 1 in the second but was quite until the fourth quarter. I give credit to the UPS defense that stepped up big time. I my humble opinion it looked like UPS was not with it today. A lot of ISO plays and not much team chemistry. All though in the 4 quarter they came back alive but it was too little too late.

UPS though held the ball on offense for most of the game, which prevented PLU’s offense to never get into a rhythm. A lot of nice passing and ball control from the team. And #15 with a hat trick helps out too.

I am sure that the next time these two get together it will be a fight to the bitter end and should be interesting.

This is a big win for the Loggers, and next week we will play a very tough WWU team (so will PLU). We finally put the majority of a game together... excluding the start of the first. We hustled and played solid defense, then possessed that ball. As physical as this game was, 3 penalties were called, all on UPS. 2 offsides, and a slash. The game was officiated well, and called even, good job Aaron and James, but I still want a third ref. I hope B teams will think about putting up the money next year to get them.

Both teams could have played better, but the ball bounced in our favor most of today. I would expect a very very fired up tough PLU team at WWU Friday. The usual stars were very good even if the box doesn't show it. We won today, but in my opinion, PLU is still the team with the target on their backs.

Wow on the SFU over Oregon. Congrats to the Clan, wish I could have been there today. Looks like both teams have dramatically improved from last year.

Looks like SFU didnt have to worry about backing up their predictions as much as you. It always amazes me how much smack Oregon talks then somehow wants to be treated like a class act.
