We got rocked 22-1 by Ft. Lewis. Hats off to John and the Ft. Lewis program they now are my pick to win Division B. They really have a great team. Utah Valley better lookout!
We managed to take 16 guys with our walking wounded and there were a lot of positives for more then half my Team it was their first College Lacrosse game ever and for some their first Lacrosse game period. I believe with exception to the 1997 season this was the first pure College Team for UNM. We were down 14-0 mid way in the 2nd Quarter and we went to some of my Defensive tricks and began to really pull together as a Team. The score did not matter, it was a Fall game. We made more progress in the last part of the 2nd quarter and the second half of that game then we have all Fall.
It is going to be a hard year at UNM with a building situation, but this is a group that has some real potential. I don't think I have ever been that proud of a Team that lost by 21 Goals but I was yesterday. As my friend Sonny Pieper says "it is Baby steps".
Thanks to Ft. Lewis and Coach Robinette for having us up to beautiful Durango, Colorado. Best of luck to Ft. Lewis in the 2007 season.
It is going to be a tight year in the RMLC Division B with Utah Valley State, Northern Colorado, Western State, Northern Arizona and of course Ft. Lewis College.
All the best,
Ft. Lewis College
