Which League boasts best teams?
Of all the leagues who do you think produces the most contenders by tounament time? CCLA(Michigan, Oakland, Miami(O), Pittsburgh), LSA (texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech), RMLC (BYU, CSU, Colorado). SELC (florida, florida state, georgia tech)? Just asking to get a good discussion going. I'm going to say the CCLA is the deepest of all the leagues.

I don't think anyone gives the PCLL enough respect. The PCLL has UNH and Boston College. Boston College is currently ranked 11th and UNH just got back from a trip to the Lone Star Classic where they went unbeaten, the notable victories being against Texas Tech and Texas A&M.
"UNH suprised they hell out of me, remember it's real early for them, hence the trip South. They are ballers. Not real fancy, but you'd hate to see them in a dark alley."

I am not doubting the comment, I just think someone other then the Head Coach, Tony S, said that. I just don't see Tony using the word "ballers".

It's difficult to acknowledge PCLL teams this early in the season, when they haven't played any games.

True Catlax but the PCLL traditionally has been considered the bottom of the USL-MDIA and, after Boston College's showing in nationals and UNH sweeping their first out of conference trip in a long time, that may have to be reconsidered. UNH has always been known to be a good team to PCLL guys but because they do not travel very often it has been tough for anyone to argue that to out of conference people. BC graduated one player after last years 2-1 nationals showing and retained PCLL first teamer matt mcconaty who was abroad last year. Just will be interesting to watch and see if they can sneak an at large bid.

I watched the games this weekend and although UNH won and not to take anything away from their hard fault win, they were lucky to win against A&M and Tech. Having played some of the teams in the PCLL and watching the games this weekend there is no doubt they have great skills, but it seems to me that they lack the physical talent that you see in the other leagues.
Again not to take anything away from them, because they made the plays when Tech and A&M didn't, god knows there were a billion wide open opportunities that were missed and UNH still came away with the wins. Anyways, the thing that will most hurt UNH this season is the aggressive defense. They were sending two, three guys sliding out of the top of the box leaving 2 or 3 on 1's with the goalie. It was unbelievable...but what was almost more unbelievable was how many missed shots and dropped balls occurred in those situations. The tight field situations and good basic fundamentals (catching, throwing, and sticks in the air) were the difference in the games this past weekend.

Tony did not state that on the board JJLax10, for one he doesn't post on this board, and too, the screen name PigPen made that statement. Please check the accuracy of your quote before claiming a head coach made a certain statement in a public forum.

We (UNH) did leave people open on the crease in unsettled situations. I think this can be blamed on the fact that we had been outside twice(1 practice and 1 game) before Texas. Other then that we practiced inside a gym. On settled defense I think we played well and I dont remember leaving anyone open on the crease.
I don't think luck had anything to do with the wins. I think we played well and came out the victors. I also don't think the outcome would have been any different if we played on dry grass or turf. Here at UNH all of our games are played on turf and many games across the PCLL are also played on turf.
As for the physical talent, I think we can definetly improve on being in shape. However, we out hit most of our opponents and played very physical games.

The PCLL will get more respect if the member teams continue to play OOC games against quality opponents, which has been occuring on a more regular basis recently.
PCLL teams have won some games in St Louis over the past few years. Not sure what BC's St Louis record is, but UNH has played well against some very good teams. Off the top of my head, in 2000 we beat Tennesee, and lost a close one to Colorado in the final minutes. In 2002 I think UNH also fared decently.
Bottom line- for an at large bid or more respect for the PCLL, teams must travel and beat ranked opponents on a consistant basis. I think the PCLL is heading in that direction.
