With all due respect, no one has blown us out this year, we have too good a goalie in net... 4-1 1st half, 6-3 2nd half, that would mean the reserves are al little better at putting the ball in the net I guess...

Well we did have way more players than yall did so the reserves coming in the third who had not run all game ran all over you kids - simple as that - Elon still has yet to find it's offense from the fall - even though we won by 6 it was still not as good as where We'd hoped to be at this point in the season

A real strong this team this year, that we just didn't show up for. Our middies were not ready to contend with what theirs were going to do offensively. #4 n #11 jsut seemed to get their shots every time. They had a strong attack as well. #42 n #14 were big against us. But Phil has always done a great job. And we also expected a big game fromt the Doyle's. Almoast certain they'll be around in Atlanta.

Good group of guys. I expected more from #27 though. #17 seemed to be their real thret, he seemed to have the ball the most n was the only one i saw going left. THey have a good coach, and i can see some good things for Winthrop in the future.

Our offense was off its game...Dale #17 was forced to play defense more than we would have liked, so that didn't help. Phil, #27, quit smoking after the WCU game and I think it has really hurt his game, lol.

How did NU look considering it was their first game of the season?

It's always nice to see a guy who can really take a step back and evaluate without bias. Of course Elon only won by a little bit because Elon messed up. It certainly couldn't be because SCAD might actually be a decent team and have a (supposedly) good goalie. Maybe you all ought to play a good A division team and gain some perspective.

asu vs. wake

Postby asulax on Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:23 am

so asu beating wake 16-3 hasn't been talked about, only one other team beat them by more and that was FSU. It was a big win for our program, bc it was the first time we ever beat them.

i was impressed. a well rounded team, with talent at close d and between the pipes. All of the offensive players are very unselfish and they run a good possession offense.

Were playing ECU this weekend and we played NC state in the fall twice (one win one loss) as well as USC which whom we beat by about ten goals on the same day we beat SCAD by a score of 16-2 - there's your perspective.

My whole point was that you felt so insignificant because of the score that you wouuldn't simply let the win do the talking for you. Most everyone knows that Elon is better than SCAD. For some reason, you decided to take away any credit toward them. All that does is make people want to take you all down harder. That's what I meant, and that's what I hope.

Who doesn't?

That day, we were missing some key players, our guys went out hard the night before, and offense wasn't working the way we wanted it to at that point in the fall. Taking that into perspective we would've/could've/should've had a "blowout" on you "kids". If you guys don't buy that excuse, then I'll just go back to the "fall ball doesn't mean jack" theory....

Excuses are pretty useless, whether they be a semester later or later on that weekend. To beat a team and then go on a message board and say it was more of a blowout doesn't show any of the class and sportsmanship that this game should be known for. To already mock a team after you already beat 'em displays a further deficiency in those traits. If Elon thinks they're that good, maybe you guys should schedule more games against better competition, and perhaps even move up to A.

Please respect each other on the field and on this message board. You don't do any good for your institution or team by bragging in cyberspace.

Sorry guys - some nights I come home and check the message board and feel extremely cocky and get ahead of myself - SCAD is a quality program considering the short amount of time they've been around and they are one of the more organized clubs in the league. Anyways from now on I'm limiting myself to posting scores - I'm sure you guys won't mind

... you'd think Elon had a superiority complex ... SCAD's obviously a legit club - they've done incredibly well , especially as a first year program - and if their website is any indication, they're all business... no disrespect meant

as far as we're concerned, we're just tryin' to play our games one at a time... we obviously have goals and running a consistent offense is one of them ... we've got some big games ahead of us that will hopefully do the 'talking' for us

Website award?

Postby LaxLuthor on Wed Mar 02, 2005 8:24 am

There should be a 'best website award' for the league and SCAD should get it...but would there be an asterik next to it? I mean, its an art school so its kinda like their website is using performance enhancers.

I consider Scad one of the best Teams in the Conference. People may disagree but I know one thing we will be ready to play them. It is all about taking one game at a time. On any given day you can be beat and if we do not take the time to prepare for each game and respect our opponet we will get beat. Elon has maybe one of the best Teams in the SELC Div. B and for that matter nationwide. But the real talking gets done on the field. When you talk about who you beat in the past and how great you are it will lead to disaster on how hard you will fall. For some Teams when you talk about how high and mighty you are it just puts fuel on the fire to beat you at any cost and put you in your place.

Actually, players are discouraged from talking on the field. Only Captains may speak to officials and any talking between opposing team members can lead to some time in the penalty box.
