Looks like the new team name will be announced next week. Any thoughts or suggestions on what the new team should be?

The name of the New York NLL Franchise, announced this morning on ESPN2's Cold Pizza, will be the New York Titans. Their colors... Syracuse Orange and Blue. The logo looks almost like a Tenn Titans ripoff, but definitely solid. Entry draft is tonight. Still looking for a picture of the team graphic.

NY Titans Press Release wrote:The "New York Titans" was introduced today as the name of the New York expansion team. The Titans will wear orange and blue as the team's official colors. The logo features an armored helmet with the letter "T" displayed in the face opening, and the team name boldly written across the bottom. New York also unveiled its new website, nytitanslacrosse.com. Along with the team name announcement, the Titans released the schedule for their inaugural season. The team will play four home games at Madison Square Garden and four home games at Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. The announcement was made today by Team President George Daniel.

In July, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that an online poll would be conducted to name the team. Over 7000 fan entries were received. "The overwhelming choice of the fans is Titans." said Daniel. "The image of New York is one of power. The name Titans captures that."

The logo was created by Adrenalin, Inc. "As members of one of the fastest growing leagues in all of sports, it's not surprising that the New York Titans ownership places a strong priority on branding," said Daniel Price, CEO of Adrenalin. "Our collective goal was to develop an organizational brand that combined the dynamic excitement of New York with the aggressive mentality of the sport of lacrosse. The resulting name and logo thus includes a warrior's steel helmet with the city's majestic skyline."

Adrenalin created the brands for three other NLL teams: The Colorado Mammoth, Arizona Sting and revamped the Philadelphia Wings. Adrenalin has also developed the brands for the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL and the Chicago Fire of the MLS.

The Titans announced today the schedule for the team's inaugural season, beginning in January of 2007. The Titans schedule includes four home games at Madison Square Garden and four home games at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

"We're very pleased with the schedule for the New York Titans inaugural season," said Daniel. "We have the best of both worlds. We will play four games at Nassau Coliseum, right in the heart of lacrosse country on Long Island, and we will play four games at the world's most famous arena in Madison Square Garden. Catching the intense action of professional indoor lacrosse will be convenient and affordable to fans in the tri-state area."

I like the choice though it's ripping of the old NFL New York Titans who became the Jets if I'm not mistaken. It sure beats most of the other names that teams are coming up with these days...the Machine, Riptide, Rock, and Sting all come to mind as lame team names.

pathetic-Give me the Saints any day. Titans? WTF? Let's name ourselves after the worst franchise in NY history (save maybe the NY Knights) and split our games between MSG and Nassau-they haven't learned much since the Saints died.

The NRL is the National Rugby League. Didn't even know there was such a league.
