I received an email a few weeks back about some dates for a alumni game...some of the alumns have been emailing me back with dates (specifically, 11/4) to put this together. But the litserve does not appear to be working, nor have we heard any updates.
Is this going on? I know some are already planning to come from out of town (MD and FLA) for this event. It coincides with the Arkansas football game. Either games Friday night or Sunday morning, with a possible tailgate.
Let me know if anyone out there has the 411.

We are planning on the weekend of the Arkansas game, either Friday night or Sunday at 11 AM or noon. Email me your info at the_kob(at)yahoo.com if you're interested. You should already be on the listserv if you've gotten an email.
I'd appreciate input from any teams that have put these on before. I'm a little concerned about when to have the game around home football games so if anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it....

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I was wondering how much you charge alums and what they get for it. We're looking at charging them $25-30 and giving them a practice penny for example...

While that certainly can be done...we have never charged anything to alumni. Typically just used each set of home and away jerseys for each squad for the game. Afterwards had a party for the alumni which of course their cup was free, during so you hit them up for donations and try to sell merchandise.
We also created a t-shirt to commemorate the event, sort of like your jersey idea.
-One year we incorporated a halloween theme (which was the date of the game)and the alumni coming back from the grave.
-Another year we incorporated an irish theme with the alumni's luck (Notre Dame football game followed the next day)
Other ideas which we have done is: catered a bbq before the football game the next day and rented out a bar after the football game. Alumni loved it...
Hope that helps.

thanks for you inputs. KOB, it sounds like 11/4 is a go.
We still wouldn't mind if teams share their experiences with the forum. Whether you do this every year, or are trying to organize one, it is a big help. After this fall, we will share our lessons learned.

Oh, and btw, Dave Basile recently moved from Charleston down to West Palm Beach, I believe. He is a principal at a high school. I think his lacrosse days are long behind him. Now John Hauck is a name I haven't heard in a really long time...There should be a handfull of the old 96ers (myself included) there representing.

Long life Dave Basile and John Hauck! Good times.
If you are still in touch with them, tell them to check out this forum (and/or drop me a line).
