OOC Holy War in Grand Rapids in 3/30-4/1

Wheaton/Chicago seems like the best spot, at least for this first year.

While down here in TX I have spoken with Pacific Lutheran, very interested. They will be looking into the flight costs in the coming weeks.

To float 2007 dates, it appears that Palm Sunday weekend is the best fit, March 30th to April 1st.

Do we have any other teams from other conferences interested?

Talked with Pacific Lutheran's coach yesterday, they are very interested, basically ready to buy flights.

Can someone from Wheaton chime in with details about their facilities and confirm availability for the 3/30-4/1 weekend.

PLU confirmed they would still be interested in coming if Calvin were to host it in Grand Rapids, we should get things ironed out before the conference meetings starting mid September.

I also got interest from Southwestern's coach, the LSA champs, via email today, which brings our possible conference reps to 5 (CCLA, GRLC, PNCLL, LSA, UMLL). Are there teams from the other 4 interested (SELC)?

I have been to lacrosse games at Wheaton, and they have some really nice facilities. The games I was at were on the soccer field. The football field is next to the soccer field. It is a really nice place to play lacrosse. Why don't you call this the Crusades?

Understandably, it turns out Wheaton would not be able to host games on Sunday.

I will now work to secure our local set of turf fields, here is the aerial view from the past two CCLA championships.

The EGR school district will begin spring break on the 30th, hopefully leaving the fields vacant for the weekend.

Yesterday I spoke with the Calvin women's coaches and they said they could pull together their own women's Holy War to go alongside ours. Since the women's game is a bit more friendly to grass fields, it is expected that their games could be hosted on campus. The plan would be to host a gathering Saturday evening, ideas are being talked over.

In possible schedule I put together, we could easily host as many as 10 teams with each getting their share of Out Of Conference games.

Taylor is interested in this tournament. Our big conflict is that our Spring Break starts March 30. Is March 30-April 1 the set date or is it still up in the air?
