Oakland 11
Texas A&M 4

Thanks for having us this weekend. Great work to save our game today, also thanks for getting the team a place to shower. Just as it starts to get warm and dry we have to come home to 20* and a snow storm that supposed to give 5 to 8 inches.

Thoughts on A&M............

Well coached and very young, I think about 10 freshmen. They will only get better. I would like to say thanks To Tony and Chris for there work in getting this game played today. Good luck to the rest of the LSA

Now hold on, from what I understand those teams had already been schedules to play both TAMU and UT, anyways. But instead of playing them at their home fields they agreed to take part in the Lone Star Shootout.
It was with the good intentions that both teams made alternate plans to play them in Houston. I would like to think that playing USLIA games that have significant "poll" meaning could be held on regulation fields. I do not think that is ever too much to ask, no one can complain anout the weather, but the lack of planning on obtaining REGULATION fields is pathetic. This was billed as "One of the biggest college sporting events in Houston history kicks off tonight," Yeah right! I would call this a huge bust for TAMU, UT, Oakland, and UNH. I am sure that when Oakland and UNH make plans next year they will not have fond memories of their Texas experience, nor should they. This tourney, did nothing but harm for the LSA and its "premier" teams.
smulax, I am sure that from your perspective on this weekend being a success has more to do with your victory against UT, but considering it was on a field that was nearly 30 yards too short, I would think twice before giving the Houston Sports Authority a lot of praise. Nearly your entire post is laughable and I would love to stay and chat but, that's my "two cents at least"

Monkeylax . . .
Are you kidding me? Yeah, you do have all the right in the world to bash the fields and the set up, and that was great that UT and A&M agreed to meet in Houston. It was UT's turn to come to Dallas for a game, but we made arrangements with no ill feelings at all. Sure it was dissappointing for those elite teams to come all the way down to Texas and to have such poor conditions, but the people in the HSA are real people. They've been bashed for the last 25 posts, so you don't think you can chill out a bit, bud? Does no one esle agree with me here? Sure, the weekend worked out well for us, but we also played on those fields as well as having three originally scheduled games that didn't all get played. It didn't work out well for anyone, but have some decency. Or maybe that's not your style?

The way I see it the HSA people did a great job on everything but the fields, which as said already were horrible. I realize that they could do nothing about the weather but it seams like there are many better fields to play on in Houston. It really slowed down the game and took down the level of play. When Tech played New Hampshire we spent 5 mins at one point with the ten guys on each side wandering around looking for the ball. I would love to play New Hampshire on grass, or dirt, anything hard/solid really. I also think we would not have seen so many upsets/close games if the fields had been better. I hope that the HSA people don't get discouraged and try again next year.

There is no better way to show your moral superiority than by saying it.

Oakland and New Hampshire paid a lot of money to come down to play lacrosse. They definitely did not get what they paid for. This tournament was very embarrassing to play in and have it considered a representation of Texas lacrosse. The fields were not the correct size and completely covered in mud. You can claim that the rain was a factor, which it was, but at the same time, the New Hampshire team got there a day early and was picking rocks out of the game field to try to make it more playable. There was no alternative plan if it did rain, and teams had to scramble to try to get their games in. I live about an hour and a half away, and I don't want to come back. How are people out of state going to want to come back?

I agree with Moneylax...this weekend didn't do anything but hurt the teams in the LSA and their efforts to recruit high school kids. Texas kids are now being recruited by the dozen each year and not just out of the private schools either. More and more Texas lacrosse players are getting the opportunities to go out east and they know that. When you have tournament like this weekend and you are inviting some of those same kids that are being recruited by NCAA schools it makes the Texas college teams look like a joke and they go back and tell their friends how much of a joke Texas college lacrosse is. The result is you have the same stigma about Texas college lacrosse that most LSA teams have worked hard to get rid of.

Anyways, about the tough schedules for the LSA teams - yeah they have taken on more than they can handle, but these are teams who felt they had everything before the season started to take another step forward...you can't fault them for that. Hopefully, they will begin to learn from the losses, make adjustments, and take notice on what they need to approve on for the remainder of the season. It most cases there are over six weeks of lacrosse to played. That is a lot of time to make the right adjustments before the LSA playoffs and get to Blaine and have a decent showing.

There is enough talent on the LSA teams this year to do well, they are simply being out played by better TEAM's not individual players with the exception of Billy Binge...that dude was awesome.

That was from last Saturday's game.

I would like all of you to know that at midnight tonight, I will begin selling tickets for spots on the SMU bandwagon. Tom, don't let everyone bash Houston, I'm loving it down here. Kind of funny though, the weather was glorious on Friday, then I leave town and come back today and it is glorious again. I swear I would saw off my right arm to watch SMU play A&M this year....

SMU and A&M aren't scheduled to play this year?? That has the makings to be a great game. Hopefully those two squads can working something out and figure out a time to play.

I'm not sure how it is now, but I heard talk before the weekend that A&M vs. SMU looked like it would be the first A&M game in the playoffs. So...depending on the things work out, you might get what you are asking for.

I guess we'll all just agree to disagree on the Houston issue. No big deal. Let's just get back to talk about the rest of the year. Can anyone tell me if the Eastern Michigan games count as a forfeit? Actually, the question really lies on whether or not it counts as an OOC game? I'm sure Brent or LaxC21 could enlighten me on the matter. Thanks.

Tom, I am going to defer this to the LSA Commissioner. You can send him a private message and ask him about that as I know you and your coach will need to know how this will impact your team.
