Any word on new teams trying to join the league this year?

Also, can someone tell me when the fall meeting is?

this past spring i heard from pitt st. (kansas) and southern illinois in may. i anticipate that they will apply for membership this fall. commissioner mosher has been contacted rockhurst, missouri baptist, newman and a few others.

i would like to know what current teams think about expansion of the grlc, whether division a teams should be forced to play in division a, and whether new teams should be forced to play in division b for at least their first year?

expect an announcement soon regarding the grlc fall meeting. it is scheduled for october 7 2006.

the meeting is in oct? that is awfully late. some schools have to get their spring schedules approved by their athletic depts in order to have the fields reserved in the spring. it might present a problem for some of the smaller schools that have to jump thru hoops and "sit" on command when told.

i have to agree norway, october is too late. when used to hold the conference meeting on the first weekend after labor day. much better in my opinion.

would still like to hear some opinions regarding conference expansion and whether teams should be forced to play in the a division.

For what it's worth, and even though we were a new team last year, I have to ask...has the GLRC ever turned a team down for membership? From what I can tell, it seems like we are the only conference who never tells a team no. Can anyone give me an example as to when we turned a team down? How many teams bailed on us this past year, 2? Monmouth and Truman, I believe. Did any other conference have any teams do the same? We're plenty big, so telling a team no, if it isn't deserving, shouldn't be a problem.

My biased opinion on the "make A teams play in Div. A" is no. The reason why is that, despite the potential for said schools to grow into big time programs, they can't be expected to immediately (within 2-3 years) compete. Some might be able to win a few A games, others...none at all. Let the programs use their own discretion, at least for the first 2-3 years. It's not as if A-sized schools can take home a title in Div. B, right?

I found this interesting and I'm sure some of you will as well.

If you go to press releases and read the December 20th one it gets more interesting....

Since when did we get to have 2 extra guys on the field?

I was more surprised by zero dues. It will also be tough to go back later and raise dues when you start players expectations out that way.

They are also a set of jerseys short. The only waiver I can think of a team ever being granted on home/away jerseys was Miami (OH). They had very nice jerseys, they were just gray for home and red for away. The conference voted to allow the jerseys for one year until Miami could change them out for the proper white (home) and red (away).

Purdue made themselves jerseys about six years ago with white Hanes T-Shirts. Numbers and names were then spray painted on. The CCLA made it clear that Purdue was not wearing what they would consider acceptable jerseys. It was meant to be funny, but I do not think everyone enjoyed the joke (understandably).

according to mapquest...its only about 7 and a half hours...which means between 6 and a half and 7. which isnt really any farther then a few of the trips harding took last year and even the year before.

I'd suggest us not making judgments on these guys yet. Lets hear them out at the meeting and if they have EVERYTHING they need than we shouldn't hold them back just because of what they have on their website.
