Augustana College to host tournament 22-24 Sept. 2006

Augustana College seeks two teams to join the 2006 GRLC B Division Champions and the UW-Platteville, the 2006 GLLL Western Division Champions for a weekend of lacrosse 22-24 September. We are looking to run games Friday night, Saturday and/or Sunday. Games are to be played on Ericson Field.

We are looking to establish a weekend in the fall, where teams from different conferences can play a competitive weekend of fall lacrosse. If you are interested, please send me a PM.

Gentlemen,
I have met with our administration and we are a go for the weekend of 23-24 September in Rock Island, IL. Games will be contested on both our turf and grass fields. I have contact several teams and received heaps of interest. What I am envisioning is bringing in 5-7 teams to join Augustana. I just want to get as many teams as we can to play. The fall is a time to evaluate your team while having fun. We each play increasingly demanding spring schedules. Why not get together and have a little fun, while playing teams you don't usually see in-conference?

Augustana has both turf and grass facilities. Due to our women's soccer team having a game, would have access to our turf field from 8a-3pm on Saturday, 23 Sept. then all day on Sunday, 24 Sept.. Our grass field is available all day, both days.

I have contacted our assigning referees about officials and am awaiting word on the cost of the refs. The entry fee should be in the range of $250-300. Obviously, the more teams we have the more games each to will be able to play. I would like to each game to consist of two 30-minute running-time halves. This way we can play more games.

I am in the process of setting up a deal with a local establishment so that we can all party on Saturday night. Also, I have a couple local hotels interesting in setting up deals on rooms.

Iowa State would be interested in this tournament but we're already pretty committed to a tournament in Mankato as well as a Friday night scrimmage with them. If that doesn't work out for us, however, we're definitely interested.

Did you get/see the invite to the Cyclone Classic on Oct 14-15? Is Augie or anyone else interested?
