Notre Dame's schedule is murder. If they can get through that, they will be the top team. I still believe however that West Virginia has the easiest road to Tempe and with their skill players, they will be a tough pick to pass up for the game by voters.
If anyone else can finish undefeated, they will play WVU for the title. If we get into one loss land, it will probably be the one loss team from the Big Ten or the one loss team from the SEC.

Well, the final BCS Poll last year had 5 ACC teams in the top 25:
Miami: 8
Va Tech: 10
Boston College: 21
FSU: 22
Ga Tech: 24
The SEC had 5 teams in the top 25 as well.
ARKLAX you are thinking the Big East. When Va Tech, Miami, and BC jumped to the ACC it left the Big East as a very weak conference.
ACC - VA Tech: with Marcus Vick finally gone the Hokies can just play football.
Big East - West Virginia: but is that really saying anything.
Big 10 - Ohio State is going to be fine, their defense will recover the losses at LB.
Big 12 - Texas: With Bomar out at OU, Texas Tech never as good as advertised, A&M playing a Division 1-AA schedule the Horns should roll the South. I think their QBs will struggle early, but will be productive late.
PAC 10 - USC: until someone in the Pac 10 beats the Trojans they will be my pick.
SEC: Auburn: If they beat LSU at home they will win the SEC.
Heres hoping for like 4-6 undefeated teams. 4 from the big conferences and 2 from the mid majors (Louisville and TCU). Only because I like seeing the BCS messed up. More undefeated teams the closer we get to a playoff.

Might be a little hard guys for WV win the Big East if Louisville is as good as everyone says they are this season. Both teams will lose some games. I am not sure where, but they will lose games. The teams are not great, but this conference will produce some upsets.
TCU will be very good this year. If they are undefeated come October 1 then they have a great chance to run the table. Gary Patterson is the best defensive coach in football, and he has filled his defensive unit with a lot of talent. The offensive back field is scary. They have 3 great RBs and a QB that wins.
Here is my response to everyone that wants a playoff. You have one! Every game could mean the end to your championship hopes. If you still think you need playoff then check out the bowl experiences for the teams and the fans. There is nothing better than bowl season.

The Rules stipulate that each year there will be between 5 and 7 automatic bids. To earn an automatic bid for a period of 2 years beginning in the 2008-09 bowl season conferences must meet the following standards:
1. Be in the top 6 of average BCS Standing rank of your highest ranked team.
2. Be in the top 6 of overall average conference strength (it is believed this measure will be an average of the CPU rankings used in the BCS standings for all conference member teams)
3. Be “similar” to the other automatic qualifier conferences in terms of number and ranking of teams in the final BCS standings.
4. OR Win an appeal
I don’t know if you have to meet all of these or just one. They supposedly are going to base it on 2004-2007 seasons. Neither the Big East or the ACC has had someone in the top 6 the past two years. #3 could hurt the Big East, though.
Well, I have to chime in on this one. An Arkansas fan is talking about defense? You mean the same one that gave up 70 points to USC? Cal is overrated? What are you basing this on?
I didn’t tout our defense. We got ruled, that I’ll admit. But I’m basing it mostly on those tough non-conference games two years ago versus NMSU and So Miss. Not to mention that successful bowl game against Texas Tech (45-31 is nowhere near indicative of how lopsided that game was, and Tech was Big XII #4.) The bowl win over BYU last year was nice, but not near as great as that win over Sacramento St. That win surely set the tone for the season. Barely losing to a one-time national champion means nothing. And I hope Marshawn Icantstayhealthyforafullseason Lynch has a Heisman caliber year.
I would make a great pencil salesman.

You really need to check your facts. I assume you mean last year vs. NMSU? A 41-13 win? They are horrible, but it was 4 touchdowns. Against So. Miss in 2004 it was a 26-16 win, and they kneeled on the ball to run the clock out instead of scoring. They got their butts kicked bad against Tech, regardless of any excuse a Cal fan wants to throw out. Nothing they can do about the game against Sac St...that game was scheduled when Holmoe was their coach. Last time I checked, Auburn and a host of other SEC teams don't exactly play world-beaters year in and year out for their OOC games (cough, cough Missouri State). Marshawn Lynch missed 2 games last year because of a broken finger. What other games has he missed? What will you say when they go into Tennessee and Lynch runs all over them?

When did I ever brag on Arkansas? Having said that, over the last 2 years we've had non-conference games versus USC and Texas, the past two national champs. COUGH COUGH.

That I was wrong about Tennessee.

Last time I checked the SEC might be the toughest conference in the nation the last few years. Why would a team like Auburn play a tough non-conference schedule when they have to play Florida, Bama, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss. USC has Cal and Texas has OU, so those two teams need to play tough OOC schedules to be respected.

Only true way to decide a national champion.
How would you like it if in Lacrosse the National Championship game was decided by a vote, as opposed to a tournament.

I say we let all 105 1-A teams into the national football championship tournament and start each September. We could just get rid of the regular season and trash the entire almost 90 year history of bowls.

Why not keep both... have a smaller tournament (8 or 16 teams or so) with bowls for consolation games and the 30 or so teams who didn't make the tourney. Just a short and dirty description, but that would seem to be the best compromise.

We already have that 8 (now 10) teams make the BCS. A bunch of other teams qualify for other bowls.
