Any CCLA-B Fall Tournaments?
I have been watching this website lately how a lot of teams are hosting tournaments or going attending tournaments for fall ball. Is there any CCLA-B teams hosting any tourneys or attending any?

There may be something. I have heard rumors that there may be a one day, in-state tourny.
Ask your coach to call his old partner-in-crime from WMU to get more details.

maybe one needs to get started. How much does there need to be done to really get one started. Besides painting lines, gettinga trainer and such? Im talking with a lady monday about money from the school, maybe ill ask her to donate some money to hosting something. Im sure we can get some teams from CCLA B that are in west michigan area to play.

I'm not sure why the heck I didn't think of this during my last post on this topic. WVU has an annual fall tournament. We actually attended last season. There was a few mdia teams there, and a few NCLL teams. If I remember correctly I think the NCLL teams outnumbered the MDIA teams.

Don't forget officials!
The other thing is that you need to clearly establish your tournament format and very clearly establish the rules under which the tournament will be played. This is not as easy as saying "NCAA Rules," since there are sometimes experimental rules for fall ball, and you need to specify which, if any, of those rules you're using. Also, by fall ball time NCAA rule changes have been announced, but the rulebook isn't available yet and so you have to decide whether you're doing 2006 rules or 2007 rules as they are currently understood (which may be quite different from press release to rulebook; one purpose of fall ball is to give the new rules a "shakedown cruise").
Nothing is worse as an official than showing up to the game and not knowing what rules are being used!

I just want to see a tournament get started somewhere in Michigan. GVSU is already driving 5 hours to play in the Augustana tournament. We want something local.

Why limit it just to B teams? You could have a nice competitive event with GVSU, Calvin, Ferris, WMU, possibly CMU and invite Northern Michigan back down. Not too many long drives, and Andy Sharp may help you organize it.

calvin would probably be up for something again this fall. this past year we had a couple teams out one saturday for some round robin action - good competetion, laid back... ferris, cmu, gvsu were there....i think. good chance to get some game time and an opportunity for newbies to finally get a taste of a game

Northern Michigan would be interested in attending a Michigan tournament downstate in the fall if someone hosts one.

Yes, there is something worse: no officials. Please build the officials fees into the tournament team fees and let me know: how many days, how many fields, how many game slots, length of game and if stop time or running time. last detail is necessary to figure out game fees for the officials. Also, please post everyone's ideas of dates here so they aren't all the same weekend. Central Mich (other CMU) has started talking about 10/21 for a date of a fall ball event in Mt Pleasant.
Hope to hear from you!
