Here's the word I received from Chris Park (CP18)....

New Hampshire beat Tech in overtime. Tech won the opening faceoff in OT, as the Tech player was scooping it, ball got stuck in the mud. Alternating possession to New Hampshire and they went down to score to win it.

Oakland and A&M game was moved to a local high school. Oakland beat A&M unofficially 13-5. Apparrently Oakland played well, A&M can't finish their opportunities.

As for the UNT/A&M game, A&M opened up a huge lead and took out all of their starters and let their subs play the rest of the game. UNT fought hard, but the score was close because of that fact. Oakland is a good a team, A&M is young. Here's to Oakland winning the CCLA (although UM should have something to say about that). Thanks to Klein Oak for letting them use the field and salvaging the game. The field tooka good tearing up, but in true Texas fashion, everyone banded together to get the game running. From getting a field to getting Oakland a place to shower before fying home. It's a shame UNT/ UT didn't happen. Very disappointing weekend. Here's hoping HSA gets a good venue committed to the event in writing for next year (and hoping some ranked teams want to return). I think the teams should be comended for continuing to play with all of the distractions.

Looks like A&M and Texas will fall out of the top 25 for sure now, and with Tech's loss to OAKLAND it looks like only the AQ from the LSA will make it to MN. Just when we all thought that the league was jumping to the next level; a season like this happens.

My thoughts exactly. While it's great to see some good competition in the LSA, I was hoping it would come when some 2nd tier teams stepped up, not because A&M/Texas dropped off.

I now hate Houston more than I ever have. . . Also, the cable at our hotel sucked. I blame the city of Houston for that too.

All H-town stuff is cleared up with me now, and I think we should all think about holding back on playing field issues from this weekend. Most of them have been expressed, and I'm sure the committee is already looking into different locations for next year. Am I wrong, or would it be the real LSA if we did it absolutely right on the first try? (I mean that in a friendly way) Think of the good stuff . . . George Webb brought teams from across the state as well as top teams from across the country and exposed some great lacrosse to a bunch of young kids who didn't even know it was possible to play competitively in Texas after high school. I definately think it was a positive for all LSA teams as far as exposure, and I think George and the Houston Sports Authority deserve a wholehearted THANKS! That's my two cents at least.

Sure the only way in is AQ this year, but thats more a function of the ridiculous schedules UT and A&M play, i dont know about tech.

A&M, in particular, seems to have bitten off more than they can chew this year. Still to come in an already very tough season:

Colorado
Michigan

Of course, this is in addition to Texas, a couple of other tough OOC games, and (hopefully) the LSA playoffs.

Might be time to re-think their scheduling philosophy to give that young team some confidence.

Now hold on, from what I understand those teams had already been schedules to play both TAMU and UT, anyways. But instead of playing them at their home fields they agreed to take part in the Lone Star Shootout.
It was with the good intentions that both teams made alternate plans to play them in Houston. I would like to think that playing USLIA games that have significant "poll" meaning could be held on regulation fields. I do not think that is ever too much to ask, no one can complain anout the weather, but the lack of planning on obtaining REGULATION fields is pathetic. This was billed as "One of the biggest college sporting events in Houston history kicks off tonight," Yeah right! I would call this a huge bust for TAMU, UT, Oakland, and UNH. I am sure that when Oakland and UNH make plans next year they will not have fond memories of their Texas experience, nor should they. This tourney, did nothing but harm for the LSA and its "premier" teams.
smulax, I am sure that from your perspective on this weekend being a success has more to do with your victory against UT, but considering it was on a field that was nearly 30 yards too short, I would think twice before giving the Houston Sports Authority a lot of praise. Nearly your entire post is laughable and I would love to stay and chat but, that's my "two cents at least"

True, you gotta schedule 'em to beat 'em. You can't live in the closet forever, and be afraid of playing with the big boys. I must say that of all things I do respect TAMU for consistently scheduling "real" schedules, because their players will be able to say they played against some of the best teams in the USLIA. Even if they lose those games, they are certainly more prepared for their division teams after playing elite OOC teams, or so we hope.

I meant UNH/UT before. As for scheduling tough, at least A&M isn't shying aware from tough competition. I wish Coach Fran could take an example-dropping Miami, FSU and Air Force in FB for Army and The Citadel, and claiming it was linked to A&M's military heritage. Please! Anyone check out his history at TCU and New Mexico-same thing, hence the second year turnarounds. I know this has nothing to do with lax, but any chance to take a swipe at the man who is banned from the state of Alabama, is worth taking. Bring back Bob Davie. At least ohalf our fb team wouldn't be incarcerated! I will not rest until the Wrecking Crew is resurrected.

Yeah, I go to Tech.

Nothing really against Houston, (or the teams which are from there), but the tournament was poorly organized and we're all a little bitter about it.

Too bad, it coulda been a great weekend. All teams played very well, its just a shame that there wasn't a better opportunity for all teams to play on a decent playing field.
