For the second year in a row, the Olympic Club lacrosse team of San Francisco took the top prize at last weekend's Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament held at the Village Green.
Sunday's championship game, featuring the Rocky Mountain Oysters against the Olympic Club, was as exciting a match as you'll see in lacrosse, according to tournament sponsor, organizer and Incline resident Curt Wegener.
"It was a see-saw battle, as the Oysters took a 5 -3 lead at the half, but the Olympic Club came out strong in the second half taking a 10 to 7 lead," Wegener said. "The Oysters responded with two quick goals cutting the lead to 10 to 9 but the Olympic Club scored the final goal and held on to win 11 to 9."
The tournament played host to teams from the Bay Area, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Oregon and two teams from Colorado.
