Florida to bring "ringers out the wazzoo"

Florida to bring "ringers out the wazzoo"

Postby G8RLAX on Wed Jul 26, 2006 2:00 pm

I just wanted to kinda get a rise out of some folks and get the friendly juices pumping before the tournament (in fact I'm not gonna even be able to make it this year). Why not? It's all in good fun right? But I was a little bit disturbed to get a private message from Danny Hogan (obviously a Florida player). Here is what it said "I don't even know who you are, but we are gonna have ringers out the wazzoo this year".

Here is what I have to say to that. AWESOME!!! Way to go Danny!!! Way to take a fun weekend of SEC rivalry and turn it into something that it is not supposed to be. Get your "ringers" and go to Lake Placid or the War on the Shore. If I was playing, I could probably call up my boys from Calvert Hall and Boys Latin and make a fun weekend out of it. But guess what? I understand what kinda tournament this is and respect those rules and the folks playing. And by the way, don't try and come back to this saying that all of the "ringers" are Florida players..............cause nobody is gonna buy that.

Good Luck this weekend to all of the teams that get to play against "Danny and the Ringers"..........SWEET!!!!!!

Danny Boy- let's face the facts here, you called yourself out and now everyone knows of Florida's plans to bring in bunch of ringers for the tourney.

Look, I'm not good at lacrosse and don't claim to be. I don't even have a Cascade. I just love the sport and like watching teams get back together for some fun. I'd love to come and watch, but will be out of town.

PS- I'm sure I'm older than you and have no clue who you are, but I BET that when you play.....you wear a bunch of eyeblack. I'd almost be willing to bet money on it.

I'm awesome........

The only thing worse then people "calling each other out" on an Internet message baord is people making fake, disguised posts to call someone out.

Please place nice G8RLAX and read the message board rules:

why is that so hard to believe? florida has done well in the past tourneys with just florida players (especially against auburn).
and if you've attended (since you don't play) any alumni tourneys in the past 3 years, you'd know that "ringers" aren't a new thing. GT had a few last year. not to mention Ken is the biggest ringer of them all :D

ringer

Postby Ken Lovic on Thu Jul 27, 2006 2:03 pm

Ni I take offense to "biggest" ringer. That can be taken two ways and I will take it as the most skilled technician on the field with a unyielding check and amazing footwork that even Patrick Swayze would love. Okay, enough of that, time to put this "bigger" baby in the corner.

It is a fun, laid back tournament. We have used a few non-GT guys- only one last year. Everyone else has been associated with the program. Doesn't buying a tee shirt count?

I think every team but maybe AU has used people outside the Alumni range- either current or just a friend of the program. There is no trophy, just bragging rights and a lot of fun for the guys to get back together in a town like Atlanta and swap stories about Hogan and Oasis. By the way- he wears the eye black there too

Yes, it's better to compete against a team that will give you a run as opposed to a group of 37 year old guys that are still playing with wooden shafts.....but I am just under the impression that Florida could have probably put together a solid team of alums, like I'm sure most other squads are doing.

My main point was that I thought it was weak that this Florida player was bragging about bringing "RINGERS OUT THE WAZZOO". This leads me to believe there are moer than 2 or 3 ringers, cause Danny would have then used the phrase "a few"

As for the Florida ringer comment, I did not mean to insult on that one....I'm sure there are a bunch of good players down there. I was just saying that Danny would not have called his old Florida alums "ringers", that would defeat the purpose of a ringer.

It's just W-E-A-K to me

Ken-

you are right. The tournament is all about fun and it's neat that you are taking time out of your life in order to put this thing on. Lord knows you are not compensated for your time, it's just for love of the game and that is something that I respect. I'm looking forward to hearing about it and how it went.

Danny- No harm in any way, I was just kinda busting your chops and I understand this is all about a good time. But, after all of this, I'm still under the impression that you wear a whole lotta eye black when you step on the field. Someone tell me otherwise, I have no clue.

PS- The Swayze reference ruled

i guess the sticker thing flew over your head.

i'm under the impression that you are greater than me and the 'folks' who play in the tournament and thank you for not coming down and ruining it with your 'boys' from BL and calvert hall.

I could probably call up my boys from Calvert Hall and Boys Latin and make a fun weekend out of it. But guess what? I understand what kinda tournament this is and respect those rules and the folks playing.

i was just concentrating on getting as many good players as possible together for the tourney because i heard someone on auburn knew people that went to private schools in baltimore!!!

come on man, i'm sure someone can cover your shift at friday's, try to make it down.

Hogan wears eye black at the Oasis?

Wow. The things you learn by reading the USLIA.com Message board... That could be a whole podcast topic by itself.
