For all of those that feel that they are enlightened, tolerant, superior, or whatever else they care to characterize themselves as, I find it a sad state of affairs that (1) people continue to seem compelled to debate this non-issue, (2) that Kyle's personal privacy has been trampled upon by the press and talking heads for their own personal bemusement, and (3) that people's personal indignations have superseded common sense.

I've never met the man, but he used to be quite active on this board at one time. I can't say that I've always agreed with his viewpoints, but he had intelligent things to say. In any case, I am somewhat ashamed that we, the USLIA community, didn't have the collective sense not to drag his personal life into a raging public internet debate. I, for one, offer an apology to Kyle for the lack of sensitivity shown here.

It's quite generous to say the team folded in 1996, as I started playing in their league in '93, and they only managed to play us (their closest geographical league opponent) ONE time, at home no less. Until they restarted under Kyle's leadership, Mizzou Lacrosse existed only on paper at best, certainly not on the field. They were something of a league running joke every year. Kyle came along, and the rest is history. I'd suggest the president of the parents' booster club think real hard as to whether their organization would have a lacrosse club to support without Kyle's hard work over the years.

I'll make one quick comment, but for me it's really a non-issue. The man should be judged by what he's done for the team as their coach, not by his personal life. End of Story.

I hope the players and parents can look beyond this issue and concentrate on what's more important--the team and where it's going. Kyle has done a lot for the team. I hope they keep that in mind.
