Wooldridge Returning to Texas State
University announces additions to development office
June 30, 2006
SAN MARCOS - Jim Wooldridge, whose basketball coaching career has included Kansas State, the Chicago Bulls and Louisiana Tech, is returning to Texas State University-San Marcos as major gifts development officer in the Bobcat Athletics Department.
Wooldridge, who came to Texas State in 1991 from Central Missouri State, coached the Bobcat men's basketball team to their first winning season in NCAA Division I and their first NCAA postseason appearance. In his three seasons with the Bobcats, he posted records of 7-20, 14-13 and 25-7 and was named Southland Conference Coach of the Year in 1994.
"My wife and I have wanted to return to San Marcos ever since we left," Wooldridge said. "My coaching positions have given me extensive experience and involvement with alumni and the community that I can put to good use as a development officer for the Bobcats. I'm eager to get started."
Wooldridge began his career as a graduate assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, then went to assistant positions at East Central State in Oklahoma and Central Missouri State. The first of his 19 seasons as a head coach was at Central Missouri 1985-1991, posting a record of 131-48.
From Texas State he returned to his alma mater, Louisiana Tech for four seasons before he was hired as an assistant in 1998 by Coach Tim Floyd to help in rebuilding the Chicago Bulls following the retirement of Michael Jordan and dissolution of the Bulls' championship roster. He headed the Kansas State program from 2000 until last March. He begins work at Texas State on Sept. 5.
Wooldridge earned his B.S. degree at Louisiana Tech and his master's degree at East Central State.
Texas State also announced Friday the hiring of athletics development officer Christopher Park who will join the Texas State staff July 31st after spending the past two and half years at Sam Houston State University.
At Sam Houston State, Park served as the athletic development/marketing coordinator and was promoted last year to external operations coordinator. Among his responsibilities was private fundraising and oversight of Bearkat Partners, coordinating and developing corporate revenue and gift-in-kind agreements and implementing marketing plans for Sam Houston State's athletic programs.
Prior to his tenure at Sam Houston State, Park was a program coordinator with 12th Man Team Rewards in the marketing office of Texas A&M's athletic department.
Park received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Texas A&M in 2002 and also earned a master's of science degree in kinesiology in 2004 from Texas A&M.
"Both of these individuals will be a tremendous addition to Texas State athletics as we move forward in the capital campaign," said Texas State director of athletics Dr. Larry Teis. "I am looking forward to them hitting the ground running."

Congratulations to Chris! It will certainly make next year's game between TSU and TAMU much more interesting for those involved. Kind of hard to get too pumped up about the revenge factor against your new employer!

Like I said in a previous post, when it comes to lacrosse, no matter what University I work for, if they happen to play the Aggies, I will bleed Maroon and White.

What a small world. I read the press release (Congrats CP!) and noticed that the AD is named Dr. Larry Teis. I grew up in Ft. Worth with a Larry Teis and his brothers Donny & David. So I went to the Bobcat site and sure enough it's the same Larry Teis that went to TCU in the 80s.
I have not seen nor talked with Larry since the early '80s but I'm sure he is still a great guy. The 100's of Nerf football games we played in his backyard are some of the best memories of my youth.
