The Adrian Coach just got on board. I doubt they'll have a recruiting "class" this year in the same sense as a varsity program that has been established awhile. More likely mostly kids who were on the club team and some who show up out of curiousity because of the new program.
He's working at our camps this summer, but I haven't seen anyone from Adrian this summer at the East Coach recruiting camps, where you need to be if you are serious about recruiting. It will take them awhile to get up and running, if they even have a significant recruiting budget.
I expect it will take them a year or two at least to get the program up to speed.

Any announcements on where any of these stellar players are headed to?
I know that Tyler Oates is going to Army and Danny Witt is attending MSU - any other in-state bound players?
On another note - I reffed the Mattawan alumni game the other week, and the benefits of the growth of lacrosse in MI was apparent. In my mind, Mattawan is one of the "new schools", but their alumni were well-stocked. Guys are playing for WMU, Ferris, etc., and they have grown a bit from their HS days - they could play. So here are kids from a new sport - able to play lacrosse for their college at a very competitive level. How great is that?

There are quite a few guys coming to State on the list. I'm in a rush, and can't post the entire list.
Goalie's Smitty Atwood, and Dean Hall
Defenseman Robert Brooks-O'Meara (East Lansing)
just to name a few.
Danny Witt will be at MSU this spring but hasn't decided if he can play at the next level. We'd love to have him out.

One of my best friend coached at Mattawan. They have a solid program there. They've sent a couple of kids to college, but have a tough time getting coaches out there. Western MI has a long way to go in the eyes of varsity coaches. Even though there's a few kid that can play.

Dave Moore is the current coach at Mattawan, has been there for several years. Great guy and good coach. Granted, West MI is not the East Coast - and EGR and Forest Hills produce the best players - it's just nice to see the development of players from other programs.
Another Kalamazoo-area coach is Frank Rogers, who played at Syracuse. Certainly knows the game.

Add Matt Trahan to the list of people that will be attending MSU. You may remember his brother who played for Hofstra before transfering to MSU. His brother, though, got mono and couldn't finish the season.

I will be trying out for MSU as well. (D1 Third Team). Corey Momont planned on playing at MSU but had acceptance issues and will play at Michigan Tech.

Mattawan Lacrosse Alums and college
I mainly only get on this forum to view the state of the CCLA, but this high school topic caught my attention. I know I'm a little late, but I was really surprised to see the post about the Mattawan alumni game, as there is never much talk about anyone on the west side of the state (with the exception of EGR, Forest Hills, etc.) It was amazing to see the referee say that we had a good deal of talent coming out of our school in his viewpoint. I attended Mattawan HS, and made the CCLA 1st team for Division A while playing Western Michigan this year. 3 of my best friends were also in the Mattawan alumni game, 2 of which made the CCLA 1st team and 2nd team in Division A, and the other making the 1st team in Division B. I feel that those all-conference spots are a testiment to our relatively new program at Mattawan, and for growing programs on the west side of Michigan. As a new assistant coach at Mattawan HS, I wanted to say thanks for the acknowledgement of our growing programs over here. I can't wait until next year to be a Michigan lacrosse and CCLA alumnus!!!

Matt Compher from Mattawan is a solid player. He's currently a "preferred walkon" for us. We'll give him a good look, and I'd be willing to bet that he'll make the team.
He has great skills, but just doesn't have the size. Mattawan is an up and coming team, but there are still some holes to plug before they'll make any real waves.
