Discuss/Report Scores for Wed, 2/23/05 - Tues, 3/1

Postby lax on Sat Feb 26, 2005 4:42 pm

Tulane 5
Texas St 10

Good game, VERY NICE FIELD. They have that field turf stuff at Tulane. Tulane played very well in the beginning and took a lead, but they lost 2 of their 3 starting D-men early in the game to injuries...and then Texas St took the lead in the 2nd , 3rd periods. Great goalie play by both the Tulane and Texas St. goalie but Texas St. had great ball movement and they were able to get some shots past the Tulane goalie.

Pig pen,

Not sure who exactly got the fields but, they wanted to avoid school hosting because then it would become the school's event. They wanted to make houston a venue for lacrosse. ( Possible future MLL implications and future site for the USL-MDIA Championships.) I have heard from several people now that this event is more of a bumble than a triumph.

Hopefully this year is the only bump in the road to success. I commend everyone that helped bring this idea into a real event.

Man this George Webb should never be put in charge of anything. He couldn't run a summer league and\ he can't even find a decent field in Houston.

He could have held this event at any private school, Delmar stadium, hell the Rice lacrosse fields (since they dont get much use now) or any of the numerous fields in the Houston area. What team is ever going to return to Houston, if we can't hold a decent event.

How upsetting.....

From what I understand George was NOT involved with the fields for the Houston tournament. He was involved with promotions, but not securing the fields.

:x > I now hate Houston more than I ever have. We were losing the ball in the mud. Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if there are still 3 or 4 game balls still IN, not on, but IN the field.

These games were a waste of time and a threat to the health of all teams that played on these "fields". I feel bad for Oakland and New Hampshire, as well as the rest of the state of Texas and Texas Lacrosse. We've been given a bad point of reference for ALL future teams which are sought out to play in this state. Im just glad there weren't any serious injuries in our games, and I'm really surprised that there weren't.

Also, the cable at our hotel sucked. I blame the city of Houston for that too.

... What a waste of time. Now i gotta spend the rest of my week trying to clean my pads.

Only a two goal victory over North Texas, what is going on at College Station?

Good luck against Oakland, BYU, and Michigan.
