Does anyone care about the NBA anymore?

For me, the NBA playoff ceased to exist when LeBron was allowed 4 steps through the lane to score the game winning basket against the team formerly know as the Bulletts.

I will never, never forget the Sports Illustrated cover with Julius "Dr. J" Erving saving NBA when ABA merged with NBA. Then NBA continued to be exciting with the battles between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Michael Jordan then came into the limelight. After that, not much excitement, so that probably explains why I don't really watch much of NBA.

I enjoyed the rivalry between the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics (Magic and Larry Bird).

Whoa there. The NBA Playoffs this year have been nothing short of incredible. For the first time in years, I actually watched the opening rounds because the games were so good. More Game 7s and Overtime games than any set of NBA Playoffs in history. I think Simmons is an idiot...what on earth is he talking about. Unless the Celtics, Pats, or Sawwwwx are involved, he doesn't know a thing.

Yah, i'm with sohotrightnow... I've been watching every Spurs game and as many play off games as possible. After the Spurs were knocked out, I wasn't as interested but my interest peaked when the finals came along... Since the Mavs knocked the Spurs out i'll be rooting for the Heat. Dwayne Wade is amazing. Nuff said

The short answer to the question is a resounding no. The NBA has gotten sooooooo boring that is has become a chore to even tune in to a portion of a game. Team play is at an all time low. The game has degenerated to hoisting up 3 pointers and running isolation plays. The pro game in the NBA has become a caricature of itself and it couldn't be farther away from the way the game should be played. Let's not even address little things like traveling, team defense, offensive plays, etc.

I will put the NBA and the NHL in the same category for my comment. These seasons start in October and November. It is almost the end of June. I am tired of watching the games. It is hard to watch an NHL game in June. The NBA is not much better. The seasons are too long.

The NBA and the playoffs have been great this year.

Mavs-Heat, Mavs-Suns, Mavs-Spurs, Suns-Lakers, Suns-Clippers, Pistons-Cavs, Cavs-Wizards, Pistons-Heat have all been GREAT series.

The talent pool in the NBA this season was the best since Jordan played. The NBA is also cracking down on hand checking and stuff like that allowing the D-Wade's and LeBron James' of the world all the room to drive and score and make the game interesting.

It has also helped that my Mavs (yes, my Mavs, no one else :lol:

) have had a great run so far.

MLB plays 162 games not including playoffs in 7 months

NBA and NHL play half that many games and it takes them 9 months

its the playoffs that are too long. almost two months.
i dont follow hockey closely, but 16 teams in the NBA playoffs is too many. a team that finishes under .500 on the season should not make the playoffs.

Does anyone care about any pro sports now? By "pro," I mean the heavy hitters like the ones mentioned: NHL, NBA, MLB. What about the NFL? Perhaps the PGA? MLL? Is there any pro sport worth caring about?

NFL is definitely going strong. I would say the PGA, at least compared to the pre-tiger era, is still going strong and shows no signs of slowing. The majors are usually packed.

you forget it takes about 3 - 3.5 hours for a baseball game, and on tv, i think id rather watch reruns of Hogan Knows Best....Playoffs, baseball is the same thing , starts on october runs through novemeber.....besides...indoor baseball is the WORST THING ON THE PLANET...you couldnt pay me to go to a Twins game........
