I don't want to speak on behalf of Lindenwood, but I was at the entire game and it was very exciting.
At half Lindenwood was up 5-3. In the third, Lindenwood was riddled with penalties and had a player get a 2 minute penalty, one of which was unreleasible. Illinois capitilized on the penalty scoring two goals. At some point in the 4th, Illinois led by two goals after that and Lindenwood closed the gap which forced the game into overtime.
Illinois started the OT quater on man-up. Lindenwood's defense held out and got the ball back on offense. After Illinois got possesion, a tough Lindenwood ride gave the ball back and Lindenwood scored to end the game.
The Miami of Ohio vs Minn Duluth game that preceded the Lindenwood vs. Illini game was as equally as good. Miami of Ohio ended up winning by one goal. I beleive the final score was 7-6 or 8-7.

LU vs. U of I
Lindenwood and Illinois played a fantastic game this evening; one that will give this coach grey hairs!
It was a well-contested game with both teams showing well at times. The most either team led at any one time was two goals. LU lead 5-3 at the half; U of I led 7-5 in the 3rd quarter.
LU was able to come back and post an 8-7 advantage going into the final quarter. Illinois tied the game in the final quarter to force OT. Illinois started OT with 42 seconds of EMO. LU's defense was able to kill the remaining penalty time and gain possession of the ball. Justin Combs scored the game winner at 2:45 of OT on an assist from Brian Nix.
Top performers for Illinois were attackman Mike Copher with 4 goals, midfielder Jason Sutherland with 3 goals and 1 assist, and the defensive play of Justin Hooper.
Lindenwood's top performers included Justin Combs with 3 goals and 2 assists, Jim Lange with 2 goals, and steady goalie play from Tim Jennings posting 13 saves.
Many thanks to Illinois, Minnesota-Duluth, and Miami for coming to St. Charles for the Lindenwood Invitational. Best of luck to the Illini in their OOC match-ups over the next two days.

One of the coolest aspects of the LU vs Illinois game was that after the game was over. Coach Hood (LU), Coach Silva (LU), Coach Sullivan(U of I), Jason Sutherland (U of I) and myself were all sitting together shooting the breeze watching the Miami of Ohio vs Duluth game.
As competitive as we all get on the field, this sport binds us all together off the field. That's the way it should be and that cannot be taken for granted.

Mizzou is in a downward spiral just like their basketball program.
Their schedule last year was nothing compared to this year's schedule. Tough to get a real read on a team when their competition was low. Their good record may have been decieving last year until the tournament when they got beat convincingly. They can only improve though from being exposed to the competition they have so far this year. Matures young players pretty fast. Good for them for scheduling hard teams, but not having winnable games on their schedule can be very frustrating for team chemistry. The GRLC is a breeze though and they should do fine against that competition.

Lindenwood - 9
#12 Duluth - 8
lindenwood is on a tear, still undefeated. lu played much better than last night.
tomorrow against miami of ohio should be good.
By the way Macklax the GRLC has been undergoing a major renovation and is getting back on its feet. I take offence to you calling it a breeze.
Don't do it again.
