I cannot understand any of what gobbler is saying, but I do know that the link is to a webboard...which (believe it or not) isnt the most reliable of information sources.

Baby Steps. I learned that from the Pieper Guy. I don't claim to know when it happens but there is going to come a time that All or most of the Schools in the USL MDIA will develop into Varsity. I believe in a 10-20 year period and there wont be a USL MDIA only NCAA. But it will be a while. Like the Guy said on the ESPN Board "most Schools wont take too many Players form their Club programs". If the expansion explodes like it is about to in the West and the South they will have to develop these Varsity programs from the current Club Teams. These are exciting times for the sport but also a time coming of change as we have known it for many years. Also it is only a matter of time til the Title 9 issues that have held the growth of the sport back on the NCAA level is resolved for all parties.

Go Lobos,

By the way we got some things brewing at UNM and we may be one of the forerunners to help develop a Mountain West Conference in the future of NCAA Lacrosse. That sure would be a tough Conference with the likes of BYU, Air Force, Colorado State and Utah. Just give it time and like Sonny says "Baby steps". The future of our sport will be the most exciting it has ever been over these next 10 years. Yes, look for Florida State to go Varsity but not for a few years.

Even if all the MDIA schools go varsity, there will be some type of club ball still in existence. Just look at the NCLL (mostly schools with varsity programs), as well as the club soccer scene as well as a few other sports. Whether it resembles the current MDIA at all we'll have to see, but there will always be kids wanting to play in a more relaxed environment and kids without skills to make a varsity program but with the passion to continue playing.

And to just take the speculation a little further, the MDIA has never had to deal with the issue of one of its members developing a varsity team. As situations change, so do rules. As a verteran of one game of NCLL ball, I can say it stinks like last week's garbage. I would hope that the MDIA leadership would be willing to evaluate the possiblility of keeping some of these club teams in the MDIA even if their school's develop varsity programs.

Right. I would think that if an athletic department added a program in the face of an established MDIA team that cost the University little money, there would be little reason to axe the varsity program because of the MDIA team. That is the main reason give as to why the MDIA doesn't allow teams that have varsity program, so we might want to have a grandfather clause or something to that effect.
