there are two seperate rss feeds. one for the forums. one for the news.

The reason you can see one, and not the other is that one is a php script (ending with .php) that creates the output. The other is created by the news system when a news story is posted.

your "mime types" determine how the browser handles it. your browser knows to display .php files in it's own window. It doesn't know what a .rss file is (or it doesn't want to display it)

Gotcha. The news feed is working, but it is only displaying very old news items from well over a year ago. Any thoughts?

Looks like the news feed is displaying the news items in inverse order (i.e. the very first published php news items for the site when it debuted in Jan, 2005).

hmmm... I see the most recent as item 669 about some wdia photos.

Weird..... I'm monitoring only two feeds in my RSS reader (USLIA.com News and USLIA.com Forums), set to update every 5 minutes. The news items listed in my reader are 2, 3, 4, 5, etc..... From the very beginning of the site in Jan, 2005.

The feeds from the forums are up to date and accurate, however the formatting/code appears to be screwed up.

Do you have any problems with the formatting of the RSS feeds for USLIA.com forums? Looks like the author, title, etc. are formatting correctly.

P.S. I'm using Diadoa RSS Feeds Toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer:

I've tried 3 different RSS readers and I can't get them to do what you are describing. My bet is that you either have to mark those as read or something. That program seems to be the problem.

If you don't know what RSS is, how'd you ask the first question? Never mind; RSS is a way to receive headlines and article links whenever your favorite blogs and news sites update their content. All the cool kids are using it. To join in, you need to download and install an RSS reader – download your choice from this handy guide from RSS Info (linked below) and follow the installation instructions.
