Clearly Philly is LaxTown since it set the NCAA tournament attendance record two years in a row and it hosts the USLacrosse convention. Plus it has NLL and MLL teams.

I like the mention of Brown hosting in 1976. I drove over from Hartford that day to watch the game, matching up Maryland against Cornell. Maryland had a guy named Frank Urso and Cornell had Mike French - two fairly big names in the sport.
It was like a HS football game - fans scattered around the stadium - certainly nothing close to 47,000!
Making plans to go to Gillette Stadium in two years. We made a road trip to the East Coast every year from '84 through '90, and then 4 kids put a crimp in those plans. One of the highlights of that stretch was being in the Carrier Dome when Gary Gait performed not one, but two "Air Gait" maneuvers - the crowd was stunned and amazed!

The mention of Gillette Stadium makes me wonder how Dick Garber would feel about the national lacrosse championship finally coming back to New England as well as coming to Massachusetts if he were alive. Of course, this is more of a "what if..." thing.

I have to agree with Baltimore. Until Philly transforms all of its soccer fields into lax havens and the children there a born with sticks in their hands, the title of lax town belongs to Baltimore.
