That was why I said UVa is definitely an overwhelming favorite, and I should also have said prohibitive favorite to win it all tomorrow. It is going to be interesting to see the Linc in a sea of oranges and reds.

Cortland State won the DIII title with a 13-12 OT win over Salisbury. That meant the Red Dragons snapped the Gulls' 69 straight games winning streak.
From the laxcast, Felice scored the winning goal with 2.2 seconds left in the OT.
Just learned that the last time Cortland State won a title was in 1975 when they were in DII (pre-DIII days).

Congratulations to Cortland on winning the national title and snapping the streak in the final. Both are fantastic accomplishments.

Absolutely amazing game. Cortland's tying goal came on a floater, it was a pass, with seconds left remaining in regulation.

But UMass did a wonderful job on Walters and Co today.
They are going to lose by a lot more than that!!!!

Nice! I would think that Cortland's win must be considered somewhat of an upset due to the way Salisbury has been so dominant in Div III over that past many years.

One incredible footnote for next year's Final Four (back in Baltimore)....
More then 13,000 tickets have been sold for next year's NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship which will be held from May 26-28 in Baltimore, Md. at M&T Bank Stadium.

Anyone else notice Quinn mentioned FSU and Tennessee? Just talking about the growth of the game and how FSU is pushing to someday be part of the ACC.

I heard that as well. Wonder where the Tennessee reference came from? (Was that Quinn or the play-by-play guy with Tennessee reference?)

It was Quinn.....how he said, I think he was just trying to say another "big name school" and that was the first to come to his head. That's my guess.

Lacrosse finals in Philadelphia set attendance mark
From staff reports
05/29/2006
PHILADELPHIA — Record numbers of lacrosse fans spent the 2006 Memorial Day Weekend for the second consecutive year at Lincoln Financial Field. More than 140,000 — 144,688 to be exact — watched three days of NCAA Divisions I, II and III men’s college lacrosse.
"We attribute the success of this weekend to our dynamic partnerships with University of Pennsylvania, the NCAA and the Philadelphia Sports Congress," said Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner. "Lincoln Financial Field proved again to be a spectacular venue for a major event."
Showcasing Philadelphia as the host city, ESPN provided live coverage of today’s Division I championship game with the Virginia Cavaliers winning against UMass Minutemen, 15-7.
"It has been wonderful to again host these great NCAA lacrosse fans from all over the country," said Bob Levy, chairman of the Philadelphia Sports Congress. "It is exciting to see the growth of the sport as seen by the record-breaking crowds."
