Major League Lacrosse Journal (By Alex Smith)

Postby Sonny on Wed May 24, 2006 6:39 am

Alex Smith, former All-America Goalie at Colorado State, is now playing for the Denver Outlaws - one of four new expansion teams for Major League Lacrosse this season! Read his first journal report which discusses the tryouts and his first game as a professional at Mile High Stadium in front of a MLL record 13167 fans.

Congrats to the Alex! The Outlaws are in San Francisco this Sunday (5/28) at 1:00pm to play the SF Dragons at Kezar Stadium. Hopefully, some of you Nor Cal folks can get out to Golden Gate Park to see the game and support Alex:

Pirates make good writers. Good luck to Alex this weekend, hopefully Denver blows everybody out so he can get in every week.

Wonder if he'll beat out Trevor Tierney? You know, MDIA (CSU, BYU, UCSB, etc) can compete with some DI programs and stuff......

Great post! Congrats Alex. Looks like his next game will have a little more MDIA action in it with USC head coach Nate Watkins playing for San Fran.

I think Alex can beat out Trevor....

I've been to four Teirney* camps over the years including the one with his dad at DU and have seen his style on TV an Jambories selling gear....(ha ha all you people that take it too seriously) Alex can overtake him if he works hard just like any other guy.

Anyway.... A and B as well can compete with Div III, II and I. Not all of them.... I'm not saying Mines can beat BC, Duke, Harvard, etc., (ha ha)but still some teams can compete over the border....

I got the 1st team all-div goalie for div B..... My brother Brian at CSU got the final winning goal in Texas over CU..... This stuff can happen people: Families and teams work together to get better and better.

Guaranteed right now, Travor and Alex don't give a flip. They're like a family too. They compete just like any other goalies in that they want to win themselves, but still they don't want the other guy to do bad, because they still want to win. That's the way the world turns...

Have fun Alex and Trevor- You're both guys/goalies/mentors to look up to.

Statements such as this are just so ridiculous. No, USLIA teams cannot compete with D1 teams...please stop saying they do/can. In saying so, the level of respect the lacrosse world has for us diminishes at a record pace. Colorado was the only USL-MDIA team to beat Whittier this year and they are D3 and finished with an 8-7 record. STOP THE MADNESS!!!! In addition, you lump in BC with Harvard and Duke????

My question is, how did that topic get in this thread?

By my sarcastic comment. And the follow up comment from Mitch Forstein. Way to start something on here Mitch.
