In connection with the 2002 incident, the woman was charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon [the stolen taxi] on a government officer, felonious larceny and felonious possession of a stolen vehicle, felonious speeding to elude arrest, driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, driving while left of center, ignoring an officer's blue lights and siren, reckless driving, driving the wrong way on a dual-lane highway, having an open alcoholic beverage container in the car, two counts of damaging personal property and resisting a public officer.

Interesting 4 Felonies and 10 other counts and she was given probation. Seems a little sketchy to me. Some other information as well including her previous employer was "Allure Escort Services."

ESPN.com wrote:DURHAM, N.C. -- One of three Duke University lacrosse players charged with rape wants the case resolved in time for the next school year, his attorney said in court Thursday. But the judge warned he will not fast-track the proceedings.

The case "is not going to jump ahead of the line and be handled any differently," Superior Court Judge Ronald L. Stephens said at a hearing for sophomore Reade Seligmann.

Philly Inquirer writer takes some shots at NCAA finals

Postby FLALAX on Fri May 19, 2006 1:46 pm

A writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer has taken it upon himself to mock the 2006 Lacrosse Finals in Philly with some poor Duke Lacrosse humor:

I think it just serves as further evidence that not all attempts at humor hit their mark.

BTW, I was fully capable of drinking beer and acting like a 7 year old long after my college lacrosse career ended (some would argue I still act that way.)

Even though he takes a jab at the DA too, the article is tasteless. Not surprising, just tasteless.

Defense Sources: Duke Accuser Gave Conflicting Stories

Postby Sonny on Tue May 23, 2006 6:04 pm

DURHAM, N.C. — The woman who has accused three members of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her at an off-campus party told investigators several different stories about the night of the alleged incident, sources close to the defense team representing the players have told FOX News.

The differing accounts are included in the 1,300 pages of evidence delivered to defense lawyers last week by Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong, the sources said.

Nifong had no immediate comment on the information said to be included in the documents. The information also has not been verified by police sources.

If there is a smoking gun in the Duke University rape case, it is not about the stripper who made the charges or the lacrosse players who have been accused. The smoking gun is the decision of District Attorney Michael Nifong to postpone a trial until spring 2007.

That makes no sense from either a legal or a social standpoint, whether the players are guilty or innocent. But it tells us something about District Attorney Nifong.

I would love to know just exactly how nifong is getting around the speedy trial rule and if it is true that a right to a speedy trial doesnt exist in North Carolina for some reason.

The Duke women's lacrosse team retains strong ties to the men's team currently embroiled in rape allegations.

The women plan to wear sweatbands that say "innocent" when they play Northwestern in the Final Four on Friday in Boston, The Durham Herald-Sun reported Wednesday.

I love it! Although I'm sure the NCAA will find a way to put the kibash on it.

The Duke women's team will be wearing wristbands the read "Innocent" when they play in the Final Four. Also, Coach Pressler was invited to speak to the team.

I for one am glad to see the show of support. It has been my experience that opinion on this case has broken down largely along gender lines and it makes me glad to know that these highly intelligent women are in support of their schoolmates.
