I know that some can be very phonetically interesting. For example, one time, my son came to me to borrow my laptop, but he spelled, "Labtop." I informed him that I would not give him my laptop, and he was taken aback for several seconds and then demanded by asking me again for "labtop." I simply told him that I can not give him what he wanted because he spelled it wrong. He threw up his hands and spelled it correctly, "laptop."
Ever since that incident, he remembered to spell it correctly everytime he asked me for the laptop.

I am surprised that so many people are annoyed on a daily basis by bad grammar or spelling. Who cares? Isn't English a living language?

One that gets me that I had not heard until I went to West Texas (Lubbock) was people saying "a couple or three." As in:
"Oh, I think we got a couple or three different ways we could go with this."
Its "two or three" or "a couple or a few" I dont care which just dont combine them.

"Supposably" rather than "Supposedly"
You know it wasn't until today that I understood the topic title? I have read all the updates to this thread as they've come in, but I couldn't figure out what the title meant. I've never heard of someone making that mistake, but it's pretty funny.

doesn't necessarily fit the topic, but a great shaq quote from about 5 years ago:
"my game is like the pythagorean theorem...there is just no answer" -Shaq
(Flash back to kenny mayne (?) on sportcenter) "The court-side reporter didn't have the heart to tell him the answer is c squared"

One that irks me is:
"should of"... or "could of" rather than the correct:
"should have" or "could have" or even "should've" or "could've"

this one strikes me as odd, because when someone pronounces "should've" isn't the "ve" supposed to resemble "of" i mean its one think when people write it because thats ignorant, but the pronunciation is just a little too close for my taste.

It's even more annoying when you pass out after a post-game celebration, wake up in the morning to drive 3 1/2 hours back to school, rush to class, and don't realize until you sit down and stare at the back of your leg that your sister chiefed you the night before with poor spelling (yeah, there's a Chico grad for you) meaning you have been cruising around campus with "I'm a Looser" written on the back of your leg. Oh yeah, it was also team picture day.
Oh course the above is totally hypothetical and would never happen to me or my teammates!
