What about Flip Naumburg for Coach of the Year!! - He brought his team back from an adverse situation last year and took them all the way to the Championship with a win!!
His name was even left out of the program - maybe that is why he was overlooked?!!
Very Happy Flip - you have my vote as COACH OF THE YEAR!!
or better yet "PIRATE OF THE YEAR"
True that...congrats to Flip and the Rams. You can always notice the difference in the level of passion that Flip's players play with compared to other teams.

Justin has been injured the majority of the year. After spring break he got the flu. He has only played in roughly half of all LU games. He will be back next year.
Sorry for all the simple sentences. I will try to post better next time. Man I'm boring.

The third team only has 4 non tournament teams represented, while honorable mention is littered with non tourney teams and far fewer tournament teams. The obvious reason for this is because these teams get much more exposure and their players are seen by more voting members then the others. I'm afraid to say it but until our game are all televised (not sure if that'll ever happen) the selections will continue this way. It's far too difficult to compare players based solely on stats when they aren't playing similar competition.
I don't know a whole lot about the selection process other than in order to be eligible for AA, you must first make All-League.
And obviously the tournament teams will have more players that get AA, they are why there teams are at the tourney

Thanks for the very sensible answer, sorry to hear about the injury, nothing too serious I hope (people frequently complain at me because I tend to use long and complicated sentences) . I must have been out of it not to know he was out a bunch of this year, sorry. Hopefully we'll see him back to full strength next year.

Is been made very clear over the past few years that if you dont play on a team or in a league that is west of colorado, you will not be on the list as a first teamer, except in extreme conditions when the player is a hands down lock. Prime example: jim contantine from UofM wins CCLA player of the year and had around 50 goals AS A MIDFIELDER, yet can only muster a 2nd team AA. And you can ask the same questions you all ask when a player who was left off a deserving list is asked about. so to answer, yes he played for a top 5 team, yes they played the best competition around, and yes his stats are overwhelmingly better. what a joke these awards are. the voters need to realize there is more to uslia lacrosse than just the west coast. especially in a year like this years when the talent pool on that side of the country was extremely down. i can guarantee you that if constantine played for a team in the WCLL or the RMLL, he would have been a unanimous 1st teamer. the same could be said about many others over the past few years in which the west coast voters have fallen in love with each others players come voting time.

Oh boy, another west coast conspiracy theory. How original.
1. There are not enough RMLC/WCLL voters to swing a conspiracy.
2. It is the rest of the country that votes for the RMLC/WCLL teams and players.
3. There were zero WCLL midfielders that made first team all-American.
4. The CCLA had as many midfielders in the top 6 as the WCLL....one.
5. All the first team all-American midfielders were from the RMLC and they were all very good.
Instead of being happy that Constantine was honored as one of the top 6 middies out of over 2000 MDIA midfielders, you complain that he was not in the top 3. Worse yet, you trot out that tired old standby.... a west coast conspiracy. Pathetic.

i said WEST OF COLORADO!!!! which means the RMLC as well!! its been going on for years. the RMLC and the WCLL get their players on the first and second teams, and the rest of the country makes up the 3rd team and HM. im not making this up. look at the lists from the past few years. i dont understand why everyone joins this love fest for the players on the west side of the country. and a prime example is jim constantine. hands down the most prolific scorer in the country at midfield and gets hosed in place of 3 SOLID, not awesome, middies from the RMLC. its too bad. just like to see guys like that who put in alot of time, and then come their senior year, have a year that no middie in a long time can even come close to, and get robbed of what he deserves. and by the way, he plays for a rival school so in no way am i being biased.

Danny Stevens (CSU) was RMLC offensive player of the year but was second team AA. Brandon Hays (UCSD) was WCLL defensive player of the year and was second team AA. Your complaints about Jim Constantine, CCLA offensive player of the year, are not unique except that you have somehow tried to blame some kind of vague, non-existent, joint RMLC/WCLL conspiracy.
Just to see whether you were actually correct that the first 2 all-American teams are dominated by RMLC and WCLL players year in and year out, I went all the way back to 2005. Guess what SpelChek? Another urban legend.
First team 2005 all-Americans were:
CCLA-4
RMLC-4
WCLL-4
Second team 2005 all-Americans were:
CCLA-3
WCLL-3
RMLC-2
SELC-2
PCLL-1
PNCLL-1
It is unfortunate that people get hung up about whether they are first or second or third team all-American. The top 3 vote getters are first team. It is an arbitrary cut off and an arbitrary distinction.
It is an honor to get enough votes from around the country to be named all-American on any of the all-American teams. Second team all-American at any position means that, in the eyes of the voters, the player was among the top 6 at his position, in the entire country. Quite an honor. A cause for celebration!
Congratulations to all of the all-American selections.

Michael Farineli had 51 goals and 21 asists as a midfielder for Chapman and he only got honorable mention. I think some voters might have based part of their decision on what they saw at the national tournament as some of the voters may not have had the chance to see certain players until then.

You might be right, however, wouldn't it be wrong to select a player based only on raw statistics. I believe there are many other factors that should be considered in the selection process. Also, there were after all some players in the tournament who put up some very impressive numbers during the regular season but were not able to do it in the tournament. I think how they perform against top ten or even top 20 teams is a factor. Shouldn't part of the selection process be based on how these young men perform against the rest of the best? For instance, if a player has 10 points (7G & 3A) in a 10+ goal victory against a team that can barely field two midfield lines and hasn't won a game, should that count more than another player who has four points (2G & 2A) including the game winner against a top 5 ranked team?

Stats definitely shouldn't be the only measure for success. As far as top competition and Farinelli, here is how he played against top 20 teams:
Santa Barbara 2 3 5
Utah 2 3 5
Arizona 3 1 4
UCSD 4 0 4
Florida State 3 1 4
Cal Poly 1 0 1
Arizona St 2 0 2
Just over 3.5 points per game. He had a strong season, and to be honored as an AA, is a great honor for him.

I believe that the AA voting was due before the start of the national tournament.

Don't forget:

I won't make any comment who should get All american this or that, but I will agree that Farinelli is gonna be a really great player in years to come.
