How did it sound? How did the crowd/field noise sound?
Please respond if you listened to it online. Just curious to see how many of you were able to get the broadcast.
Thanks!

i thought the background noise made it feel more like we were there, gave the commentary alot more flavor and was more exciting to listen to

It was great. Just once during the game the feed cut off, and I had to put in the URL to WMP again. How tough was it to set up? Is it something an individual team could do for reg season games?

Sonny, I have to admit I'm not your biggest fan due to past altercations with you, however, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. The broadcast was 1st rate all the way!! You sounded very knowledgeable and gave a great commentary and play by play. I was very impressed! My only criticism might be that when your co-host was making comments to you that seemed like he was trying to dialog with you in a manner looking for a response, you rarely even responded to what he said or acknowledged him and just went right on with your play by play like he had never spoken to you. Overall that was pretty small in the big picture, but just something I picked up on. I felt your broadcast actually kind of helped me visualize what was going on in the game and made me feel like I was almost right there. Great job in my opinion!! Oh, and I felt the crowd and field noise actually added to the realism of the broadcast. One time I couldn't hear any of the backround noise from the crowd or field for a short time and that took away from the realism for that short time period. Thanks again for a great job on this broadcast!!

As I've stated on other threads, I was very, very impressed with the production values as well as the quality of the announcing - you would have thought that you had done this many times before.
I didn't really notice that much background noise, but the description of the plays (inside roll at GLE, for example) let you visualize the plays in your head.
I was never able to get on through Windows Media Player (maybe I have an old version) and was using RealPlayer. Started getting some General Error messages from RealPlayer during the game, which I could usually click through. Finally I lost the connection and downloaded the new RealPlayer in the final 4 minutes of the game and could never get it restarted. That was the only bummer, missing the exciting final minutes.
Overall though, that was an "A" performance and an unexpected treat from the championships.

Thanks guys for all of the positive compliments! So many people to thank for making that broadcast possible:
1310 AM Sports Radio The Ticket in Dallas - helped with some tech issues and equipment
CSTV - provided us with a monitor and their field level sound feed
USLIA.com Media Staff - Stat reports and updates
Holtz - He handles and runs the server for USLIA.com; great tech help
Jason Barfield and Mike Coffin - Radio friends and collegues of mine at Sam Houston State with production help on commercials and some equipment donations
Hopefully we can provide the same service next year for the championships as well as the SEMI FINALS!
FYI, during one commercial break I joked with Sonny that we should add a webcam in our booth next year so people can see we truly are not guys "with faces for radio!"
Quote of the night:
CP18: "Sonny, too bad John Denver is not here tonight, he would love this 'Rocky Mountain High' matchup. Plus, did you know he went to High School right down the road in good ol Fort Worth?"
Sonny "Thanks Chris, as always, full of useless information."

Park you should have turned and looked at me and Oaks, we were trying so hard not to laugh at that.

Great broadcast. I listened to the entire thing from start to finish. It was as good as an ESPN broadcast, I actually caught myself being able to visualize the game at home. Great commentary, superior sound and game play by play.
Background noise added a flare to the broadcast and made it feel more realistic.

Any chance of it being released as a podcast?

Sonny, I can't thank you enough for all your efforts this week. For those that weren't part of the tournament staff, you have no idea what we needed to do in order to get the live updates, radio broadcast, etc. up and operational. It was a real struggle at times, but well worth it. I'm glad you all liked the radio broadcast and we hope to be able to have it for the semis as well next year. Those were some great games!!!
