We seem to be starting off on the right foot with 4 out of 5 Division A teams making it into the quarterfinals. Congratulations to UCSB and Cal Poly for their upsets today, and to Arizona for their hard-fought victory.
The two Division B teams will be seeing action on Thursday. Good luck to the Cougs and Toreros in their respective matchups.
Any speculation on how the six remaining WCLL teams will do?

True, only one WCLL team left but it's the Gauchos! Ouch!

I know I am an outsider to the WCLL, but I'd just like to give a big pat on the back to Arizona. They played their hearts out the second half of the season and at the national tournament. It's great to see their program back in full stride.
Great job, guys.

I would've wanted revenge as well!!
Good luck to the Gauchos tomorrow against Colorado.

very true, zona has been playing very well and gave CSU a run for their money. I think they will be rewarded with a high end of season poll and a good preseason poll for 07'.

I have to say I found it disturbing to see that the Sonoma players spent most of the SB/CU game taunting the SB players! In past years there was a tradition that a WCLL team would cheer for any remaining WCLL teams. I guess that's no longer the case. I've been seeing more and more poor sportsmanship these days and I think it's a shame!

Completely agree cricketman. Very poor sportsmanship from the Sonoma players. It is a tradition in the WCLL to cheer on our teams at Nationals.
Case in point: 2002. The other 5 WCLL teams that bowed out of the tournament cheered on Sonoma against CSU in the finals and it definitely made a difference. To see this happen yesterday was disgraceful. I guess this rivalry will only become more intense as the years go on.

i dont know if you'd ever find a player rooting for their arch-nemesis.
you think if the Raiders make the superbowl the Chargers are going to root for them? hell no.
oh and tortillas are supposed to be respectful? i dont think so

Noma BC-
It has always been a tradition for WCLL teams to root for their own at nationals. I know that I was supporting Sonoma in their game with Michigan. The parents and fans were very appreciative of the support given by WCLL parents and fans except one retarded dude with a camera.
Nemesis or not, Sonoma has always approved of the support THEY received from fellow WCLL teams. They are just not willing to give that support to others.
As for totillas, they are a UCSB tradition for all of their D1 teams not just lacrosse. UCSB is not the only school to throw tortillas at sporting events. Texas Tech comes to mind. There is nothing disrespectful about tortillas. BC, you are grasping at straws, trying to defend a disgraceful show of poor sportsmanship by your team.
But on the other hand, I can understand the frustration you must feel after losing 7 of the last 8 games against UCSB. Have a nice off season.

it doesnt matter if its been done for 100 years or just started this season...nor does it matter if there are multiple schools that do it, bringing a prop (such as tortillas) to another university's home field (regular season) and throwing them in a celebratory manner is disrespectful (T.O. dancing on the Dallas Cowboys fifty yard line star after scoring comes to mind)... granted i hear some sonoma fans returned the favor at the WCLL finals, but thats the nature of heckling.
i know theres a number of players on both noma and sb that play on the same club and summer league teams, and in the end they all respect each other... just dont go pointing fingers so fast, because its mutual

Glad I can finally post and vent a little now that the season is over. After UCSB's fans at our game this year, there can be no way that anyone from that school can ever, EVER complain about class or sportsmanship. Period. I am pretty close with a lot of the people on the UCSB team, past and present, and frankly, people who are not on the team are giving them a bad name on this board. The players and coaching staff on UCSB are some of the hardest working people in the MDIA. They did more with less than just about anyone this season after losing their senior class last year. It's a shame that some older people not affiliated with the team have brought them such animosity on these boards in particular.
Always on point . . .
