In a nation where soccer sits the bench behind football, basketball, baseball, and even hockey...
we just wanna see quality soccer, and its a lot more fun to watch Man U than Man City (plus, FIFA 2006 is without a doubt the most commonly played video game by the Sonoma team, and Man City isnt exactly first choice)

One question... When a shot on goal happens every, say, 5 or so minutes (am I being generous?), where does the excitement come in? My feelings towards soccer should be apparent, now.

You answered your own question. The excitement comes with scoring chances actually making a big difference in the game. Unlike the NBA where nobody really plays defense, professional soccer is a gut it out match from start to finish.

Soccer takes more perseverance and heart than any other sport because you give everything you have every second of the game in hopes for one chance to score (which you may never get)... that is excitement in the most true sense of the word.

Of course, in an age where the television switches focus points every 7 seconds... go figure Americans don't enjoy the sport. If we can't have flash and bravado every 7 seconds, then we are not interested...

... and this is coming from a guy who coaches football for a living!

The excitement comes in when a player makes a good pass, a good run, a good take away, a good trap, a good move on another player, as well as the strategy that is part of the game. While there may be moments of less excitement from time to time, the same can be said about baseball for example where there is a significant amount of time between each pitch, and more between each hit and even more between each home run. Football for example has a lot of downtime between plays. Basketball is just boring for the most point. (See I like soccer but don't like basketball)

If you watch the Premier league, you will see scoring chances every time down the field. Those guys are so good.

taped it and watched it last night....Barcelona would have lost if Lehnman (Arsenal's Keeper) wasnt sent off in the first 20 minutes of the match....they were pressing barcelona early, and even scored first, but the back up keeper let in two goals, both that he should have saved....
(one was a nutmeg!!!!!)

so they lost 2-1 , by planning a man down for 70 minutes, and Pires is a great player to take off the field in a situation like that...

have you seen a WCLL lacrosse game lately? some of those scores (ie more than one 6-5 game in this years USLIA MDIA Champs).

and im the biggest Arsenal fan in the USA. I was sick when Belletti scored the second through the legs of Almunia. I left work for three hours to watch the game live and still recorded it. i was sick when Lehman took the guy down, but i knew what was coming. what a sad, sad day for the Woollidge Arsenal. I'm planning a trip to London next year to see a game in the new stadium. i hope Henry doesnt leave over the summer though.

After reading the article that Flak posted, I find it interesting that Arsenal will be playing in their new stadium called Emirates Stadium. Does that mean it is owned by the Emirates group from Dubai (United Arab Emirates)?
