Word has it that a tortilla throwing incident in the WCLL playoffs at SB was a big motivating factor and rallying point in the pre-game talk for this UCSB team today.

Yeah, the Sonoma State fans/alumni thought it would be funny to throw the tortillas at Harder Stadium because the UCSB players would have to pick them up. There were also several chants calling attention to the fact that UCSB didn't make it to the WCLL Semis this year.

Couple things... The SB vs Noma game was sick and Schoolers goal with 4 seconds left was clean.
Our game against lindenwood didnt have our starters in until the 4th and lindenwood played their starters the entire game, and that is known from talking to their players afterwards. and our starting goalie didnt touch the field.
In the game of UO vs FSU tomorrow, it has been decided to play like it is a first round game and all starters will be playing to win like it was a regular big game.
Bye for now

Have to hand it to the Gauchos. Well done today. A lot of people counted them out before the tournament began and some even went so far as to say that they didn't even belong in this tournament. I predicted that the winner of the UCSB/UCSD game would make it to the finals, so let's hope that comes to fruition.

Not to start something but...Wasn't it Oregon reeming BYU last year when they said it wasn't a game? Then this year the coin gets flipped. Classy.

I kept stats for the entire NE/UCSD conso. game today and I can tell you that both teams were playing to win from start to end. UCSD cleared their bench once they got a comfortable 7 or 8 goal lead in the 4th. I beleive Dean and McCall played the whole game. Very good game untill UCSD just became too much for NE. I can't speak for the other conso games, but this one was played like it mattered.

Well, UCSD only has 4 or 5 attackman, so McCall or Dean had to be out there. That was the case all year. I am simply not buying into teams saying that these consolation games count.

The UMD/FSU game was my first time seeing both of them this season. FSU has some very good players, lots of atheletic ability, and all the tools a coach could hope for, but the UMD keeper was huge. He came out briefly, after taking a shot to the leg or a cramp. The backup played, made 1 save I believe, picked up a few groundballs, and then back came the starter. Not to slight UMD, but they didn't seem to have the individual talent that FSU did, but they did look great as a team. They were very diciplined, won the ground, and always seemed to make the right passes when necessary. I don't know who their starters are normally, but the guys that played today played well together.
