I wonder how much of what has been said would have been said if people were face to face with other people (like REAL LIFE, remember?) instead of getting huffy and upset and aggressive at a COMPUTER SCREEN. What a silly way of "arguing." However this,
"you can come kick me in the nuts and call it a day"
is wicked funny.
Seriously though. I'm very proud to play in this league, and I'm proud that Montana represents us again at nationals. They've worked over most of us at least once in the last two seasons, and I'm looking forward to following their progress. Keep us updated.
(Hopefully they don't have freezing rain in Texas.)

I appreciate a lot of your posts and certainly respect your opinion, but this particular comment really irritates me beyond description.
In the past two years, Montana has gone from a team that was not competitive with anyone - (except when Jon Greene won games by himself 5 years ago) . . .to a team that is the MODEL for what we want teams to be in this conference.
In the past they had financial problems, a few forfeits, uniform problems, travel issues, no adult non-playing head coach. . .they were a mess.
Now they are financially strong and well coached, they always travel as a team (by chartered coach), they have totally changed the reputation of the lacrosse program on their campus, and Kevin and company are changing the entire landscape of lacrosse in the state of Montana.
To not appreciate their "turnaround" and make an immature, snide comment about their natural move from the A division to B division when the USL MDIA defined the split for A and B teams. . .it's simply unacceptable in my opinion.

jason,
the comment was indeed confrontational. it was a heat of the moment response to this post:
i felt as though this detracted from the content of soulax1's post, which i believe was not so much a complaint with the outcome of the b division coach of the year award, as it was a way of aknowledging mark in a public forum. my reply was hotheaded, and in retrospect unnessecary.
cheers,
julian

I think that it's important that attackmen be able to score goals but it's also important that they hook their teammates up with great assists. On the other hand Hart had 37 goals and only 17 assists. I'm kind of bias though playing with Kris for 3 years at PLU, but I stand with the decision to give him the MVP award.
But Cody played an MVP season
Just look at the all league D from last year and this year. You might as well have phoned it in, cause Snell ain't crackin' it. I'm not detracting from anyone on that list, don't get me wrong, but I know Snell played a season that deserved to have him up on that list. You put him in a gold and black jersey and he's there.
Cody did have one helluva season, he was very impressive when we played him, and without him on offense, Albertson probably wouldve had a frustrating season. If i had a vote he would've been first team, but its also really hard to take any of those three off of that list. Hall is flat out amazing, Ault is right behind him, and Olsen did so many things this year that dont show up in box scores. If LAX counted "hockey assists", Olsen wouldve had almost 100 assists this year, no exaggeration whatsoever. He created so much for us on offense, which is evident with all 3 attackman at the top of the points list. Without him that would NOT have been the case, and in all likelihood our record couldve looked alot different. With the depth of Montana, removing either Hall or Ault from that team would not result in much of a dropoff. The simple fact is i had the privilege of playing with Kris this year, and got to witness EVERY GAME what he brings to this team. He deserves every bit of that award.
The defensive situation is very similar. All 3 first team players from last year had solid seasons this year, so its really hard to remove anyone from that list as well. Snell was very deserving of first team consideration, but it just didnt work out. In the end, its all just fancy looking paper with names on it. Everyone who followed the league this year knows who stood out and who made an impact, and it shouldnt take some meaningless piece of paper to validate someone's accomplishments in their own mind.
Go get em in Texas, Montana

Hey Jason, when are you not irritated beyond description????
I have enjoyed the healthy debate regarding who people feel belong on the list. I agree with some and disagree with many others. . .like the rest of you.
I just took exception to the comments made about the Grizzly Lacrosse program.
And as for this one:
but I know Snell played a season that deserved to have him up on that list. You put him in a gold and black jersey and he's there.
I think Snell has a lot of game, and you can easily make the argument that he belongs on the first team. He anchored the defense of the most improved team in the PNCLL . . .and he was recognized by being put on the 2nd team all-league, which is quite an honor when the 3 guys on the first team were the same 3 from the year before. . .
One of them wore maroon, another navy blue. . .and a third donned vegas gold and black. . . I don't think changing jersey colors would have changed the results as this comment suggests. There are obviously several coaches who thought Frey, Baumstark and Roark were the best D-poles in the B division last year, and then again in 2006.
Being considered by your peers as one of the top 6 defensemen in a 12-team league is certainly not a slap in the face. . . I hope Mr. Snell is proud of his (and his team's) accomplishments in 2006.

I am, especially for the accomplishments of my fellow raiders...Any Word on a post season tournament in which i can get on the same field as our PNCLL 1st team D? Maybe by then my shoulder will be healed and ill actually be able to use my right arm on defense

I was just kidding Jason, I was reffering to back when you coached me at PLU and you were usually "irritated beyond description" with most of what we did. I agree that all of the award winners are deserving of their awards and that the Griz are a great team and deserve all of the recognition that they recieve. Good luck at nationals Griz, Left side of the stadium: "MONTANA" Right side: "GRIZZLIES"!!!!!!!

Ok I'll try again, I want to congratulate those who made it all league this season, this truly was a season in which our league grew by leaps and bounds, and I hope we continue the trend into next season and those ahead.
If any of my comments were misinterpreted as being insulting towards anyone at PLU or any other school I apologize, just know that I simply want the "little guy" to be recognized as well. If the players at WWU, PLU, Montana had better seasons, and I am not the one to say they didn't, then they should be up there on 1st team. I do stand by the fact that new players and players at smaller, less traditionally lacrosse-centric schools out here get less attention and recognition than they should. As more teams play each other, as more coaches see the players we are on here arguing about, then it will even out.
I know my comments, and I doubt many others, were directed at "the system." How can we belittle those who donate their time to run this league? I'm not an idiot, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for people like Dr. Jason, Kyle, and Dan getting this thing moving along. I think too many of these comments were viewed as cyber-terrorism against the republic of northwest lacrosse. I simply wanted to voice my opinion that there is some fine lacrosse being played at SOU, Albertson, WOU, etc. I did bring nail clippers on a plane once, so maybe I am a terrorist...

the offer to come kick me in the nuts is still on the table in case I am still pissing you off

There will be no "profiling" in this league. . .so I won't assume you're a terrorist until I see you lighting your shoe on fire. . .
Hopefully I can see a couple of the best from the "little schools" when Kyle and I put together a team to play in the Victoria summer slam. . .
When Kyle gets back from Plano we will start sending out invites to put together our team. . .hopefully we'll have the exact dates by then as well.

Jason, I have the same question Snell does.... Is there any sort of summer tournament that the second team guys can get in on? I would love to play if possible. Is there any interest in this from anyone else on the first and second?? If so, maybe we can just put a team together, and get in on a tournament ourselves.... I don't know much about this stuff, but I know that I love playing lacrosse... and if that's an opportunity this summer, I want in : )

I'd be very interested in a post-season tournament, and I think it would be great to get a chance to lax with guys from all over the PNCLL. Grats to all on a great season and good luck to the Griz!
