I am also morbidly curious. If you can say, how close were the specialist votes... LSM and FOGO?
And Karl, I know the A division has been giving you a lot of steam over all league. But thats not we're trying to do here. I think most folks are pretty satisfied with the way the All League awards turned out this year. Div B loves ya man.

teams

Postby laxforlife on Thu May 04, 2006 3:19 pm

Yeah well its understandable, division b lower half teams were horrendous. Teams like Tcu, SFA, Austin college shouldnt have been on the same field as the top teams, quite sad.

I think you've found the culprits.

I think you've found the culprits.

I don't have the votes with me at work, but I'll have them next week in Dallas at the National Championships.

You can meet me at the UT v. CSU game on Tuesday at 4:30 at the Russell Creek Complex to check out all the votes and of course watch the UT v. CSU game that is being played on May 9th at 4:30.

Did I mention that the National Championships were next week?

and that we all need to be there. Especially at the UT v. CSU game on Tuesday at 4:30 May 9th.

laxforlife,

i think your coment concerning TCU, AC, and SFA is ignorant and uncalled for. Those three teams go out every week just like the rest of the league and put forth their very best effort. they have ups and downs just like everyone else and sometimes arent able to put it together at all. but that doesnt mean you have to dump on them and say they dont belong with the others. SFA is traditionally in the top of the B Div. And considering they are one of the few schools not relatively close to a large town and able to draw high school players, they have done pretty well at just fielding a team. AC has improved every year while being in a small market. And TCU is just getting fired up again after being gone for a while. I dont know who you might have played for, but I am sure you will be eating those words.

I am going to have to agree with the SFA player. The comments made about those 3 teams were uncalled for. Every team has its bad years, some have their bad decades. We should all be thankful that some schools are able to found a team. Lots of kids have never played before. Lets face it, you are all in a "B" league, and for whatever reason that may be, you are going to be playing against kids who have only picked up a stick 6 months before or some who do not have the athletic ability as others. I for one am happy that there is such a thing as a "b" division, because honestly, it gives everyone a chance to play, and everyone a chance to learn. You aren't Viriginia or John Hopkins. Saying that you are the best of LSA "B" is like saying you are the coolest kid with down syndrome. So lay off, and let everyone enjoy the sport.

Postby laxforlife on Fri May 05, 2006 7:53 pm

Wow, so division B is a bunch of down syndrom kids, that is such a better attitude than calling the lower half horrendous. That is complete bullshit, there are some players in LSA division B that can play with the best of them. If every team was movitated and treated the game like John Hopkins then the level would be 10 times better. Unfortantly there is no funding, its club, and most schools could care less. Thats why LSA division B isnt high level lacrosse. I am sorry, strong high level lacrosse is better than beginner ground ball games. You are right though, better to have as many teams as we can get rather then none at all.

i just want to say that being negative on this league won't help the league. I have nothing but respect for SFA, they showed up with 10 guys to play us and played their hearts out. TCU will be improved every year, a big school is bound to attract players. AC probably has it the toughest. A school with 1000 kids makes it difficult to recruit, they completely have to teach the game to guys that are brand new to the game. At UTA we compete with apathy. We have had some talented guys come to our university with Lacrosse experience and real talent, but they just don't care to play.

Be positive.

I know that there are a few good guys out there at SFA, and SFA has been around for a very, very long time. Like JW said earlier, there are some teams in LSA Div. B that have to battle apathy and desire, yet we are there to help and guide them. On the other hand, it is still their responsibility to right the ship and keep it shipshape throughout the years. I know those teams will try to model themselves after Southwestern, St. Edwards, Trinity, and UTA. I agree with JW that TCU is getting there right now, so give them time. That goes for AC and SFA. We need to be firm with those teams, yet at the same time, provide support and encouragement. I know that some of those teams can still compete with LSA Div. A teams (Southwestern, e.g. played TSU close, 7-8; defeated Baylor by 7 goals with a 9-2 win, but remember that Baylor was playing ironman that day after playing Texas a little bit close before fading in the second half).

I have 100% confidence in our LSA Div. B teams and do pray that some of those teams will get back on track to be one of the very competitive teams.

I am just stating before that the teams who didnt turn in there votes are the same teams who are the lower half of the division.

I think that it is obvious that the best team in the league this year also probably has the best organization in Southwestern.

A teams organization can make a difference in the level of play that they produce.

Laxforlife,

as i side note to my previous post. I am an SFA alum and wasnt there this year. But i have buddies there and I am completely embarrased by what they did this past year. Like what has been hinted at, the success of any of the B Div programs is based upon how much time and effort is willing to be put in. For my 4 years, there was a core of us that put everything we had into it to develop a program that would last, involve our alum, and gain recognition in the community (both school and Nac). But a bad year comes along for everyone and I have no doubt that SFA will turn it around. Congrats to those nominated for All LSA (i think that is what this thread is about) and good luck to SU at the playoffs.
