NYIT is ranked #3 preseason D2 poll.
Are you sure about these easy BYU and CSU wins?
I don't think BYU will beat Tech. Not this early in the season.
CSU will beat Colorado College again. Colorado College is in Pool C with Whittier and the NCAC teams. They are not as talented as the other teams and will not make the playoffs. CSU by 6.
Let's say both teams lose. Will they drop in the rankings? Or are the NCAA games not considered?

Nobody thought that the Cougars would go to Whittier and beat them last year either. I give them a better chance early in the year rather than later.

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

Generally speaking, losses to quality varsity programs should not affect the rankings. However, a win against one of these programs should help. That being said, right now, neither of these teams have anywhere to go in the rankings as a result of these games.

Alex, Josh (other CSU guys in Denver)--are you guys going to head down to this game on Saturday? I know it's at Washburn Field, but I can't find a physical address for the field. Have any of you played down there?
I'm a big fan of DU hockey so I hate everything about CC. Kind of weird, a BYU guy pulling for CSU.

A bunch of us are heading down to CC this weekend. All I remember is take the Unitah exit in C. Springs and head East. Then it's your second or third right (you can see the field on the right) and it's park where you can. No charge for the games as far as I can remember. Disclaimer: There may be rowdy (read: belligerent) CSU alumni in the stands, so maybe keep the Cougar gear under the coat!
Always on point . . .

Thanks. I've got to admit, I was up at the RMLC championship two years ago when CSU beat BYU. I've got to give your fans credit, the most creative bunch I've come across. Other than my little boy asking me what certain words meant, I found them rather amusing.

CU 18 Mines 1
While the score sounds bad...we (Mines) actually played much much better today then we did on Saturday against DU....its just that CU is that good. Plus we did better then last years 28-0 slaughter

CSU won, not sure the final score, it was probly close to 18-5 id say. UNC started the scoring with five seconds into the game but then it was pretty much all CSU.

byualum wrote:laxdad...did you make the game? I'm surprised anyone would hold them to 8 goals. Sloppy playing conditions? First game jitters? Any thoughts?
I did, visiting family here. The field was fine, but I think you're right about the first game jitters, kind of like last year vs UCSB but worse (don't know if having games start a couple weeks after everyone else is a great idea for that reason). Arizona looked quite good, seemed like they really wanted it, and were very sharp. BYU just didn't quite seem able to put it together (got to find a way to get off to a better start in games, coming from behind all the time just isn't going to cut it), offense never really clicked, not great passing, etc.; they were down something like 4-0, 5-1, I think it was 6-2 at half. Defense looked ok, minus a couple of the usual lapses. BYU woke up a bit in the second half, but still not spectacular, did have a couple chances to tie right at the end, just couldn't get the ball on cage (even Otter Pops didn't do it!). Got to hand it to Arizona, they looked for real, much more crisp (fourth game), they'll do well.
