Hey, remember a while back when CWU was talking about hosting an All-League Tournament? Well, we want to do it again, except this time, we have the support of the school and a major lacrosse equipment supplier on board with the idea. Nothing is official as of yet, but the tentative dates right now are October 27, 28, 29 (Fri, Sat, Sun). Teams who are closer to Ellensburg will be scheduled for the Friday games and teams travelling the greatest distance will have priority for later games. We want to organize pools for seeding and then proceed to a single elimination tournament to crown champs. The A division would be separate from the B division, of course. There is the possibility of hosting an All-Conference game at this event (we want it to be an annual event), but we'll see what happens because I know other people are making plans for that after this season. It looks like we will be able to guarantee at least 4 games, but we're still juggling format options. We would like to get the league on board for this as well so we can have all PNCLL member teams at this one event. I'll be sending e-mails to the League Officers about this soon, this is just to get a feel for things right now and to get folks thinking about it. We want to hype this thing huge and make it spectator friendly. I think I've covered to major stuff for right now, not too many things are definite as of right this second but we will be sorting things out and posting updates as I get them.
Please try to keep comments on topic in this thread...
PNCLL Official Fall Tournament

I like the idea, but Friday games may not work for many in the Fall, and I know of one more tournament going on in Seattle that weekend (no Friday games). Now is the time to get people commited though, see what you can come up with.

I love the idea of more fall competition, and strongly feel that it strengthens our league. However, I can say that our fall budget can't afford two trips to Eastern Washington, and we have already commited to the Zags. Is there any possibility of the two schools joining forces on this?

CWU's fall Tourney
While I applaud the Wildcats for setting this up this event in Ellensburg, it is premature at this point to call it the PNCLL's "official" Fall Tourney at this point. The Executive Board and the membership as a whole have not sanctioned it as such.

I didn't mean to imply that it was already the "Official PNCLL Fall Tourney," but that we hope to establish it as such with approval from the League's officers. Sorry about any confusion any of my wording may have caused.

This is a great idea!
My opinion is that the Season Playoffs every season should be on the East Side simply because that is where most of the teams are. However, I also think that the Eastern and Central Teams should have an opportunity to host events and the Fall is the perfect time for this! A Big Tournament toward the end of the Fall would be an awesome time and a great experience for so many teams. Also, it would give insight to the league to make that pre-season poll actually valid for once.
- I was dissappointed when it didn't work out last fall. Count Gonzaga in if those are the dates.
Friday game could work but only for close teams and if you have lights.

Well, the tournament would have to be before the AGM to make the Poll any more valid... That's pretty early for lots of teams.

I didn't think about that.
However, the poll could always be done by a later date by coaches submitting them online or something. It being taken in September is just as good as being done in January- as long as its before the season starts.

I second that.

Tourney Talk
Depending on our league status... I am almost positive that you can count us in. However, if you only allow members to participate we may not be able to if we are not re-instated.

As it sits right now, we have scheduled our tournament for October 6, 7, 8. We are trying to dodge Gonzaga's tournament so we can compete in theirs and also allow enough time between the two for teams to play in ours, work out some of their bugs, and get ready for Gonzaga's. Let me know if this new date creates any major conflicts for any team. Though this tournament is not the PNCLL Official tournament, we are still going to hold it- Both for the A division and the B division. I hope all can attend. We'll post new updates as we get them... QC Lax has also commited to this thing as an official sponsor and will be there in full force with a booth and goodies!

El Nino. . .
When you figure out the costs, game times, etc. . .you may want to get that info. out there so teams can plan and budget for your tourney. You should also try to make some deals with local hotels and get that information out to the participating teams.
If you need a list of other ideas and items that will make things run more smoothly and make your event more attractive, give me a call and we can talk about it.
Good luck putting it together. . .I hope every team in the league makes their way to Ellensburg in October.

We are already taking care of getting group rates at local area inns and getting motels to bid against each other. We should be able to get the cost per team up on here in a couple weeks. We are aiming at establishing a format so that we can guarantee each team four games. Check the Forums often for updates and coaches will be receiving e-mails when we have finite information to plan on.
