What are the contingency plans for when kids start dropping the mid 90's heat?

Well hopefully they will be smart enough to make sure they stay properly hydrated. Guys should drink plenty of water or sports drink and stay away from the soda, alcohol, or anything else because that will sap the energy right out. Also, the less time they need to be out in the heat the better. When games are over...get in somewhere to cool the body down. Heat related ilnesses can be easily prevented.

There will be trainers on site to handle health issues.

LOL...I can appreciate that it will be HOT and humid but in all reality...heat illnesses are very preventable.

There are 10 x 10 tents that are available for rental (approx $175.00 for the week). Check out the U.S. Lacrosse site and see "team check list" for details on how to obtain.

I wonder though if there is access to AC power supply outlets nearby for cooling? Maybe someone reading this knows?

Actually the heat related illnesses don't worry me much either-but keep in mind the cleat issue. When the Dallas Burn (I loved that name)played that one year on turf at Southlake's dragon stadium, I remember them playing one day game (for ESPN's soccer Saturday). they never did this again-players had second degree burns on their feet, with skin peeling and everything, nasty! This should not be a problem until late in the tourney with the turf. Folks-you can't make stuff like this up.

I believe the semis and final are on turf-be I am not sure

All games but the finals will be on grass I believe.

I think the heat thing is getting blown up into a bigger deal than it needs to be. Will it be hot, more than likely, but I am 24 and from the time I first played sports until I was about 20, I played some form of a sport during the summer in North Texas and I never once had a problem. Drink water, sit in the shade and you should be fine.

If these are just canopies, for $90, you could buy one (a 12x12) at WalMart and bring it home with you.

Dropping in the mid-90's?? "Hot" doesn't start until 107 degrees in mid-August.

Guess I'm all too acclimated to the blistering Texas heat.
