Thanks for the kind words, El Nino. I have been around the PNCLL since the mid 1990s, and our league has grown enormously in both quantity of teams AND in quality of overall play. Jason did a great job leading us this year, we're lucky he is our President. Despite his "PLULax" moniker here, Dr. Stockton is no longer involved with any PNCLL team and has devoted an enormous amount of time in his leadership role.
Kyle was a also a great addition to our EB, and Marilyn as always does a fantastic job as PNCLL Secretary handling all the deadlines and keeping everyone in the loop. We now have three PNCLL ex-Presidents on the EB, and I'd say we all do try as a collective to deliberate and do what's in the best interests of the entire league. Sure, some may quibble with any particular decision the Board has made, but as a whole I'd say we are among the best governing bodies of any of the MDIA's nine conferences.
Thanks also to Joe Kerwin and the Oregon Ducks for running what everyone said was a great Tourney in Tigard. I have run our tourney before and I know what a huge undertaking this is --especially when you are also trying to prepare a team to play in it. Mega Kudos, Joe!

I find it interesting how WWU's game report says that they would have won had it not been for penalties. I heard that all but two penalties were legit. Maybe recognizing they simply got beat rather than pouting would be the proper and classy thing to do.

I don't see that as pouting or complaining, just saying that if they could have stayed out of the box, they could have won.

I don't have a sheet infront of me, but I'd guess in just two periods they had 10 different penalties, including going 2 men down a couple of times. I do believe the penalities made a difference in the game, Montana was very effective on EMO, but Montana also got everyone in that Championship game. There were several times I'd look up and Will Friehoffer (sp) wouldn't be in the game. Their attack also didn't spend much time trying to get to the cage, they were content to let their middies take over the game, and let the offense work as a team.
For WWU, Shilo had a great game. He, and #9 Russ C were able to outrun Montana's middies in transition. Noah S in cage was great, and his outlet passes were phenominal.

Olsen is definatly deserving, he was able to make an attack unit that consisted of he, a 3 year middie =Aaron Hushenhagen, and a solid rookie attack Nik, score a combined 230 points this season. (65 percent of their PLU´s points) . They found a chemistry which to me this seems more of a valuable player than someone who does it on their own.

Jason brings up a good point in the fact that we used a new system this year for the voting and I would be curious to hear a little more about it.
Barring any feelings that may have come about from these discussions, did the exec feel more prepared to announce these selections with the new system? Did all of the teams participate? Any chance of the final vote counts for each player being posted? I realize that posting the votes could release a whole other can of worms, but maybe then we all could see how the coaches around the league voted.
Thanks to Joe and company for all of the work hosting the final four and congratulations to the Griz another great season. Good Luck in Dallas to both them and the Ducks, I am sure both have some unfinished business in mind.

After watching WWU and SOU on Saturday I think it was pretty clear that Western was much better than SOU.
are you both implying that sou didn't deserve to be in tigard last weekend?
any other nominations for 'better' teams from the b league?
kyle, do you honestly believe that plu deserved to be in the playoffs any more than southern?
for the record, sou was the three seed (easy to forget that little victory over plu isn't it?)
these are some pretty cheap shots to be throwing in the middle of your dissertations here fellas.
as for montana, i would not consider moving down a league a 'turnaround,' though what you've accomplished is admirable (nothing but respect for you kevin).
see you both next season where we can leave it all on the field.

It really is. All I was focused on at the end of the season was trying to get our team healthy and ready to play CWU & Whitman, which worked for about 1/2 against CWU and all but about 2 minutes against Whitman so I could have done a better job. SOU was the 3 seed, thank you for the correction. I stand by my statement that PLU, WWU, & Montana were the three best teams in our playoffs.

Those are some pretty cheap shots to toss out there yourself. It's a lot easier to state your opinions as fact when you're anonymous and are not held accountable. The message board isn't here to further your agenda against coalition against Oregonian lacrosse teams (we'll call it CAOLT for short). Nor is it here to attack any one person/team. Please check your facts before you accuse Montana of moving down a league, they're eligible to play in the B if they wish. They're actually nowhere near the biggest school in the B nationally, and they don't have HS feeder programs. 2 years ago they finished 1-6, the year before that 1-7, but had their best season in 02 at 3-5.
I don't remember anyone ever posting SOU didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, especially not me. I personally am an advocate of a larger tournament (8 teams), because anything can happen, and I want the games played (we just don't necessarily have the time, money, or officials to make it happen).
I hope to have a game scheduled against you and SOU next year. I'd actually like to play every team we lost too in '06 again in '07, we'll see if we can make that happen. Then you "can leave it all on the field" and stop accusing people of hating Oregon Lacrosse.

since when is this my agenda?
check your facts kyle.
i stayed entirely out of the oregon lacrosse conspiracy BS, and do not appreciate being included in that argument.
and i did check my facts. montana is eligible to participate in the b league because their football program is not full on d-1.
edit: lastly, i make no attempt to remain anonymous on these boards.
i've said it before and i'll say it again: i'd be more than happy to discuss any issue i've raised all year in a pm, e-mail, or phone conversation.
if nothing else we can chat at next year's league meeting, which i plan to attend as a student representative for sou.

I hope you all can find the sarcasm in that post. As a group we need to scale back that attacks, we're all guilty, but to borrow a term from women's lax, "It's not in the spirit of the game." We're supposed to be a community, I only hate a couple of teams and that's due to rivalry, I absolutely still respect them, but this is starting to lean a different direction on the board.
I'm not really interested in playing politics here, its not in my personality, but I don't want anyone to be attacked. I have lots of opinions ranging from coaching decisions to players actions on the field, my own and other's, but I don't post them because Sonny's board does not allow it. Let's just becareful of how personally we're going to post.

I just wanted to mention that we're still out here practicing hard this week to try and go represent this conference to the best of our abilities at nationals. As a conference, we have gotten what I feel to be little respect as far as how some of the teams in the PNCLL fall in the polls...and it's because there are so many teams out here that could step up and take a game from some very good teams. But let's remember, this game isn't about any one player, it's about the team. This is the only way that we were able to make it last year to the #3 seed with only 16 players...and I think a lot of teams out here have that kind of potential too. We're planning on going down to Texas to make a statement this year, so can we just take it easy this week with the awards?...I really don't have time to defend my teammates right now.
