Championship Food

The 2013 tournament returns to Greenville, SC this May.

Postby TexOle on Tue May 02, 2006 2:32 pm

I sent St. John's some info on the Dallas area, and I have offered to help the rest of the UMLL teams with some stuff. Some of my favorites follow:

Cici's- 'nuff said
Golden Corrall- all you can eat baby
El Fenix- Wed. night special, which always tasted good after Dallas Summer league games
Jake's- beer in the drive thru
Back Country BBQ- here is the thing with BBQ, you want to buy a large quantity of it and just dig in without individual orders which is probably my biggest knock against Spring Creek
Gingerman Pub- (behind the Hard Rock Cafe) more beer than any math major can count, but no food.

There are restrictions in certain locations. No open containers in cars, or at the fields where the games will be played.

Perhaps Karl and the Organizing Committee can draft a "dos and don'ts" list regarding liquor, entertainment options, safe/unsafe areas, traffic, etc.

And if you visit any adult entertainment venues (I remember the Million Dollar Saloon fondly) don't wear your lacrosse gear!

No booze

Postby Karl Lynch on Wed May 03, 2006 9:37 am

From the weird to the obvious.

Weird - We can't sell fruit at the games per city ordinance, so you need to bring your own oranges.

Traffic - I got lost the other day getting to the site due to construction. We are making a rerouting suggestion to the fields. Please take our advice to avoid the construction.

From the airport, take 121 North to Legacy drive. Make a right at Legacy. Stay on Legacy until Coit. Make a left on Coit going North. Make a left on McDermott going west. Fields will be on the left.

Safe/Unsafe Areas - Plano is like the OC. There are no bad areas. Better chance of getting into a car wreck around the mall with a MILF driving a Lexus drinking starbucks while talking on her bluetooth than anything else.

There is a minor league baseball team that plays less than 5 miles from the fields. The roughriders. Double AA Texas Rangers Farm team.

Anywhere down the toll road, you can find whatever you want in entertainment and food. Within 5-10 minutes of the field, you can find plenty of $50 steak places - III Forks is worth it.

Obvious - No booze on site per city ordinance.

This is where that extra rental insurance comes in handy. Just make sure it's her fault so you get a date out of it.

As a big Teddy Roosevelt fan, I find that team hostile and offensive. I demand you change it to.... the Seawolves or something. Otherwise I will boycott the championships being held there. Also, because I don't have money. :D

West end

Postby Rudyfan on Thu May 04, 2006 6:10 pm

There used to be a couple of good restaurants in the West End, near downtown. Is that still the case, and if so, what are they? I always try to make it down to the Texas Book Depository museum when I'm there, and if I recall, the West End is right next door. Please advise. Thanks
