What exactly does that mean? There are nine Ducks on the all-league roster. . .more than any other team. Where exactly is the problem?

Just a couple of thoughts on the all-conference selections. How does Corrigan, being the highest scoring midfield in the conference not get first team? Nothing against Tierney, but Corrigan is WAY more deserving. I though that there was a note in the selection process that if there is an obvious mistake the executive has the right to change it? I also feel that there needs to be more consideration for players that play well against better teams, really the first team selections should be players that played big in big games, not just padding the stats against B division teams.

There are many things that are taken into consideration for the all league selections. Sheer numbers (goals and assists) don't neccisarily show how good a certain player is. Unlike hockey, lacrosse doesn't give out more than one assist. What about the players that consistantly have the pass before the assist? Does that make them any less of a player........I think not. An all-league player embodies everything that is needed to be a successful lacrosse player. Stats aren't everything. My two cents. Thanks for your time. Back to the bar.

Well said. I don't think you can say that Corrigan is any more deserving than Tierney. If Corrigan was put in Tierney's spot, do you really think he could have put up better numbers? I think it's unfair for anyone to say that Tierney was undeserving of his selection. Despite the fact that our team was on defense a considerable amount of the time this year, and that Nick had an LSM on him, or was entirely locked off for every game after our first PLU game, Tierney still managed to lead our offense. We were asking him to drive on LSMs when we needed a goal, and he was still drawing two or three slides to free up the rest of the offense.
I think a lot of coaches that saw our team play this year realized how essential Tierney was, and I think that the selection was accurate. I don't think you have the right to say Corrigan is WAY more deserving.
Congrats to Corrigan on his 2nd team selection.

First of all, Patrick was NOT the highest scoring middie in the league -- he wasn't even the highest scoring middie on his own team. Corrigan is a tremendous player, no doubt. But he is also surrounded by some incredible offensive talent including Mike Christians and Curtis Manning.
Second, stats and scoring in particular games never tells the entire story. When UW played and lost to SFU, the Clansmen were so respectful of Tierney that they kept a top long-pole locked on him the entire game -- even with their Man-down unit. It was sort of humorous to watch -- the Huskies were running a 5-on-4 man-up every time, with Tierney standing at the Midfield line with a Clansmen Long-Pole standing with him, forty yards away from the goal and not involved in the play. It's pretty tough to score from there.
Finally, the "obvious mistake" you refer was based mainly on the votes of the A Division Coaches. Your OWN COACH (teammate, actually) voted Tierney to his first team at midfield, as did other coaches including Simon Fraser's -- so how was this such an egregious error?

SFU has always locked off a player on man down, no matter who they are playing. It's nothing special

True enough, Julian... but I have never seen them stick with it when that player just stands at the midfield line, completely uninvolved with the EMO.
Congrats on your team's third-straight PNCLL title and on winning a post-season award. Good luck in Plano.

Haha, thats funny. Tierney shouldn't have to do absolutely everything for our team. Sadly, but to his credit, at times it does seem like he is doing just that. Were asking him to face off, be a wing middie on the faces, play middie defense (arguably our best middie D), singlehandedly clear the ball, run EMO, drive on long poles, assist and score. I think most of our team would laugh if they heard you say that he doesnt care to get into the mix. Your statement is humorous at best.
