I think everyone needs to realize that the regular season is over and any losses that any team had are wiped clean. It doesn't matter who beat who two months ago or last month, all that matters is who steps up when it matters in the playoffs. And i think that is how the poll should be decided.

Colorado has beaten a top 5 team twice in the last week and a half. Has BYU beaten any top 5 teams by seven goals? How did BYU do in their most recent game? Your point about what conference CU is in making their schedule weaker makes no sense at all, they played two top 5 teams late in the season.

WOW Dan,
As I read your post you continue to amaze me... you say you are very knowledgable as said below:
Hey...this is just one guy's opinion...but I would consider myself pretty knowledgeable

but I can't put it together on how you are actually knowledgable by putting BYU a head of CU. Other games do not matter when teams have played each other twice within a two week range and one team has won both times, one being an actual whooping. I think that if you want to be knowledgable (which you aren't) you need to stop favoring your favorite team and look at the big picture.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- it gets a little tiring hearing about bickering between who should be #4 and #5 and the like. I think discussion about comparing two teams is certainly appropriate, but at this stage of the game, the teams that should be making these arguments are not those teams who have punched their ticket to Plano (for example BYU and CU). The teams with the stress factors high are those that may not make the tournament.

If there is some debate as to the quality of two teams that are in the top 10, I'm relatively certain that there will be a tournament in a week (1 week!!!) that will help to straighten the issue out. I think the whole point of this post, is that it really doesn't matter where you're ranked, especially when you're talking about the difference between two teams that are one ranking apart. The discussion about which is better is valid, and always helps to shed light on the quality of the teams involved, but to get this worked up over it, almost to the point of personal attacks, is not warranted. Let's just wait for the scores to start rolling in from Plano, and then make your post-assessments from there.

utah is clearly better than poly. just look at the numbers. in the past 2 years, utah is 4-0 vs poly. the idea of the tourny is to get the best teams that you have, to play each other to find the best among those teams. utah has proven themselfs to be the better team vs poly.

that's true, it has no bearing on the rankings, but it does show who the better team is , and that's who you want to go to texas.

who ever beat who last year has nothing to do with who the better team is this year. between seniors graduating, rookies coming in etc, its relevance is minimal

Both teams are deserving of a bid to nationals. The system is not perfect but works well in my opinion. However, to those wishing to sway opinion one way or the other, it may behoove you to get your facts straight.
rbrig,
Utah has played Poly twice in the last two years. Maybe one win counts as two these days. I think that would make Utah them 2-0 against Poly. Whatever happens, this years tournament looks to be one of the most exciting ever with lots of potential for upsets. Good luck to all the teams that are invited to Plano this year. And to those of you trying to argue, not discuss, who should go to Texas please do all of us a favor and find a pickup game somewhere and get the anger out.

. . . . . . . or just wait approximately 3 more hours and there will be no need for argument or debate. The field will be set.

Utah has played Poly twice in games that matter... the regular season. Granted both were wins but lets not get carried away about wins in the Vegas fall ball tournament.

The People's Champ is right. Both teams are more than deserving of a bid, and whoever has to face them in the first round will certainly have their hands full.

t-minus 2 hours... or there abouts.

I know it doesn't matter, but Poly didn't even go to Vegas last season, 2004. They went to Santa Barbara instead. Your math is still wrong even if you do include fall ball.
